2012 Mazda5 Grand Touring
Hey everyone - just checking to see if there are any other Mazda 5 owners from Michigan or Northern Indiana on here. Just wondering what type of issues you have found with our amazing weather that we have. What mods have you done that work well and what changes have you made to your excellent vehicle. We have a 2012 Mazda 5 Grand Touring that we purchased on Feb 29. We love it so far, could use a change storage area for the drive throughs. Ours is Silver, originally wanted the Clear Lake Blue but would have waited to get it. Traded in a 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT. We have added the homelink mirror and the bumper guard. In reading the forums I am starting to think about the tailpipe tip. Love to hear from other Michiganders and Hoosiers.

First of all, welcome. You should find the forum helpful, reading others' experiences.

We bought the same model, same color, same day too. We live in Chicago, but have a lakehouse in Wolcottville IN, just south of the MI border. I'm looking forward to driving the 5 out there, which will be much more comfortable than cramming into the Jetta that we traded for it. The highway mpg on regular gas will be a nice advantage over the jetta too.

My only mods so far have been to swap the OEM tires for a set up bigger/better Nittos. We also got the windows tinted too. There's a lot of glass in the 5, and we found out early how hot and sunny it can get inside the car on a clear day. The windshield strip is particularly nice for the driver.

The city mpg has been disappointing so far. We're averaging about 15% under EPA, although it is mostly on short stop and go trips. I hope that will improve as the car breaks in.

I'm in NW Ohio, so not all that far. We used to have meets at Michigan city with the MB and VW groups.

No....Texas. Land of suburbans, tahoes and expeditions. Not too many 5's in these parts. They make too much sense!
