They forgot to publish the side note: "Our decision was also based on the fact that The Evils were not able to attend the race and the Audi team was so distraught by this that they found it difficult to carry on."

Just a quick update on the 24 hours race. I met with the Grand-Am folks yesterday @ VIR and things are looking very good for Mazda owners! We are very close on getting a "Mazda Only" corral and camping area. We are going to be allowed in the infield for the KONI race.
We will also be having giveways of Piloti Shoes, Grand-Am Swag, Tech talks and personalzed paddock tours of all of the Mazda teams, in both series.. It should be noted that @ VIR this past weekend, we had more Mazda owners than any other make!
As a result of haviing the largest numbers, our members held the grid signs for the race. Grand-Am is looking to do this again, I am sure once again, we'll come out on top!
The 2010 schedule wil be out in two weeks, at which time we'll have pricing for the event. I have streesed to Grand-Am that we need an agressively priced ticket for our membership.
As soon as I receive the pricing information, I will post in a new thread.

Good deal! Quick note: would the paddock / camping not extend to the Rolex / 24 hour portion? Reason I ask is that you specified infield access for the Koni race.

We may not be allowed in the infield for the Rolex race, I know that Steve Focazio is going to ask the track about it, us hanging for the Rolex. We will be the only club allowed in the infield for the KONI race!!!

Ok, here's the rest of the story....we will be able to watch the KONI races from the tops of the garages,, but not the Rolex race...that may change. Also, there is supposed to be some Midway stuff going on as well.
New improved tram service, there will be more parking and camping areas as they've added some acreage to the facility. So stay tuned for more updates!!!

the 24 hour race is the 30-31 of Jan and all the other races go on that thursday and friday i believe

I would ask for the whole week off, as we are working on a number of Special Events with Grand-Am and the teams. We are also looking into lodging for the non-campers as well.
Here is some additional news, as you guys know, Team Sahlen is selling their Corvettes and will be running RX-8's! In addition, Dempsey Racing is going to be running a second car, RX-8 as well, what could be better?
With the 2010 Mazdaspeed 3 coming on board in KONI with Freedom Autosport and Team MER (Jason Saini's MX-5 Cup team) joining Grand-Am (they're leaving the series), it should be a great 2010 for Mazda in Grand-Am. rumor has it that Playboy will be sponsoring the Team MER effort...can someone say photoshoots with the Bunnies @ the Mazda Corral!!!

Yeah, I think so this year (or at least F-Sun. We'll see). The Marlon Package sounds like a riot. And I watched the Koni Challenge race last year. It was friggin sweet
