Ok so i had the new muffler installed today. Well first i had thought it was 2.5"..I measured it too. the guy at the shop says its 2.25" and its not worth doing the 2.5" axleback. Ok... they install the muffler which i will post pics of but had much nicer welds and a rolled 4" tip instead of a regular 4" tip. The note became much deeper and also my engine response changed. W/o the 2.5" axleback i thought i wouldnt gain anything. But now besides being louder it seems to have more torque and more hp especially midrange and some top. I switched from a magnaflow to a powertech, i have never heard of them, but this muffler seems alot less restrictive. Now i did have an accident which damaged my last muffler so maybe something inside had been damaged. But honestly i cant account for this noticable change in response and even powerband from just changing the muffler...which is supposdly the same diamater. any ideas... the header goes on this weekend and i will definately have to put some dynamat in the trunk and some sort of resonator. any suggestions on resonators.

OBX resonators are cheap and they seem to be ok.

mufflex...cost $25 to put on the muffler... i think they hooked me up though
cool. yeah. mufflex rawks.

mufflex did my exhaust about 4 months ago. it didn't cost me too much to get my 2.5" 304 stainless exhaust done (from the flex-pipe back). they supplied me with a hi-flow magnaflow carsound cat and a magnaflow resonator. i already had ordered the muffler from thermal r&d (god, i love the sound of my exhaust).

i think the magnaflow resonator was reasonably priced.

pardon my ignorance, but, 4" tip? wow, isn't that a little overkill for 2.25" catback?

no way.. it looks so ill on my car...it fits the bumper so well. Although its pretty deep sounding now w/ the rolled tip.

I'm not much for asthetics, so if I could do it again, I'd put my muffler underneath the car, and run a pipe out the rear so no-one could even see the muffler. So the 4" tip thing is lost on me. It doesn't need to be bigger than the inlet...

I'm slightly confused, is it a 2.25" muffler? Doesn't really matter, because you won't need any larger than your header outlet diameter. If you went full 2.5", chances are you'd have to have a custom header, since I'm not sure anyone makes one with a 2.5" outlet.

I got a Genie resonator for $100CDN. Awesome polish SS construction. They're hard to find though.

Here are the Pics

Here is the muffler. It really looks larger than 2.25" ID... looks 2.5" to me but whatever.

Looks good man! I can't believe mufflex only charged you that much after what they told you the first time around. I have a resonator that I got from Jegs. Check them out they have a lot of choices for a very good price. Call me up this weekend.
