i like the car and everything but a couple of things realy turn me off...first thing was the mud flaps...i dont like the looks of them...i know they give it a rally look and everything but they just dont look good... another thing was the gauges...it looks like a 3 year old put them on your dash..its a crappy install...maybe you could make a cover for them that surround the bottom of them where they attach to the dash. just my opinion...not trying to flame just trying to give my 2 cents
i know i will buy the A pilliar on the driver side but just don't have time

I use the heat gun to heat around the light housing and melt all the silicon aroung it and then i take off the light cover and paint it

So you were able to take off the headlight cover and paint the headlight housing without removing the unit from the car?? Any pics of the install? What kind of paint did you use? Did you spray or brush on the paint?

Very curious...

Kaho8930: Did you use red tint sheets to cover your housing? They dont look painted just covered....a friend of mine might like that on his red P5.

Hey SP5 here is the website for the tutorial on how to do it.

Thanks, but I've read this before. I believe in that tutorial the headlight unit is removed from the car and then eventually placed in an oven. I'm curious if it's possible to paint the headlights without removing them. It appears that kaho8930 did this for his car by using a heat gun, if I'm not mistaken.

A heat gun would actually be a smarter idea than putting the lights in the oven. But if people dont want to buy a $30 heat gun then throw em in the oven!

also, its possible to leave the light on the bumper while you paint them, but you will go through to much trouble. You still have to take off the bumper and you also have to cover the front of the car to not get paint on it.

You make good points, however, I would prefer to do the extra prep work rather than have to remove the headlight unit from the car, disassemble the housing and then stick it in an oven, etc.

If you have a heat gun, you wont have to disassemble the light....just take off the light from the car and take off the clear lens with the gun. Actually, after you have the bumper off, theres only a couple of screws left to take off the headlight.

I take off the front bumber and take off the head light and then i use the heat gun to melt all the silicon then i take off the plastic housing after i think there have only 3 screws to take off then you can just take the housing then spray it with a can is call DUPLX metaillc red , i brought it in Canadienne Tire After you just reinstall it

Will the heat gun get hot enough to pull apart the light...i tried to paint some extra headlights that i had laying around in the gaurage from ym friends old F1-50 and i stuck them in the oven and it melted them..i followed the directions precisely and it did it the second time i tried it to...i have a heat gun and last night i tried to take apart some corners from his F-150 and didnt work ...the gun didnt get hot enough...i am very scared to stick my P5 light in an oven and them have them melt...

me too. i can't afford new lights, but it seems that so many people have done it already that it must be fine to do. just start at a lower temp and take them out. try to pull them apart, if they won't budge then stick them back in with a higher temp.

The exterior of the car I love, except for the sticky stuff. Whatever those stickers are, tak'em off. The interior of the car, the guages, got to go. Smart choice on the head unit. Love the level of the car and the MS rims. You French Canadians rock! I love the fact how popular the P5 is over on the East side. Nice job!
