Another problem

my car has been idling like crap lately.

rpms are never constant for more the 5 seconds and it feels like its dying.

engine sounds fine but when i go to the back. the muffler keep puffing everytime the idle changes. like puft puft puft every 2-3 seconds?

theres a burst of air every time it does that(muffler)

what is wrong with my car? do i need a video? no CEL either. it just keeps puffing, and you can feel it in the car too. but tis fine when i drive

your egr valve may need a good cleaning...search EGR..you'll find all the details

Rough idle could be plugs, wires or coilpacks as well. Pull your EGR and clean it, new plugs and maybe run some seafoam through it. See if that makes a difference.

Yea dont be like me i had the same probem but had not time to fix spent 1200 chasing it new plugs, MAF, IM gasket, Vac lines, seafoam. Turned out to be my EGR valve stuck open check engine light finally came. Only cost me 260 parts and labor after the intial 1200 to fix damn sucks for me.

I had to do the EGR two days ago...mine wouldn't even start for some reason...turn on and stall off...worded great and although my engine skills are a 2/10 I found it VERY easy to do...

OP...
Damn dude...first your transmission, now this.

It's an automatic man (I have a tiptronic auto also...so I'm speaking from experience)...don't abuse the car...this is the things that happen.

Better check your oil level before you blow your motor like I did a few years back (damn crappy Mazda oem oil lines!).

Remember to get enough space before reaching to the EGR.

Also check the wire, coils even before working on EGR although there was no CEL yet.

: ( turned on my car today. CEL. im gunna take a wild guess and say egr issues.

busy today went to mass. but tomorrow def!

engine code p0304-cylinder 4 misfire

im going to change spark plugs.

o btw its a real pain in the butt to clean the egr valve. because a its hard to get to it, its hard to unplug(suggest unplugging after you remove 2 screws) the 4 phillips screws on top it was impossible to remove them.and putting it back was even more of a pain. because you cant see where the bolt goes. took a while to get it back in and put the intake back.

im going to change spark plugs and wires.

thing is i didnt clean the egr valve. i couldnt get the 4 phillips screws. and i had no time since i had things to do.

i am gunna try some fuel treatment, plus change the spark plugs since its been 62K miles since
