Hey guys,

Just became the proud owner of an '02 P5. Silver, manual, with no mods save the Mazdaspeed exhaust, which is a bit obnoxious. The other family car is an 04 Subie Forester XT and even with the 210 bhp and AWD, the P5 is a very fun car (even if my wife says it's "cute"). Great car, fantastic build quality, and the guy I bought it from was 60, and it only had 55k on it.
I look forward to the advice, expertise, and wisdom I have found this forum to be so wonderful at providing.

So, next up probably is the intake...suggestions, without breaking the bank that is? I am a teacher, after all. I'll check the tech sections as well, but i'm mainly focusing on slightly increasing performance without spending tons of cash

Cheers,
Ian

Congrats, and welcome to the forums. I'd save my money on the intake thing- you're not really going to get any performance enhancement out of an intake, unless you go the CAI route. I had a short-ram off ebay (with K&N filter), and now have just a drop-in K&N for the stock air box, and haven't noticed any difference in HP or gas mileage vs. stock. I'd suggest a short-shifter and suspension/wheel mod's to enhance the handling of the car, since they are the main area of enjoyment for P5's. And honestly, a new rear sway bar to flatten out the curves is all you really need IMO. Mazda really did a great job w/the P5, if you ask me. :)

Welcome.
As far as an intake: K&N Typhoon CAI, I have it and it's awesome. With that said though, you won't get too much performance from our little engines without sending some money so good luck.

Definatly go with suspension mods if thats your thing.

Welcome!!! Since no one else has asked....pics? We like pics here. :)

As to the name...Yes it is a Lost Boys reference. I have 2 huskies, one of which is named Nanook and stole his username many years ago...
I'll post pics soon.
Cheers,
Ian
