Another new addition!

I know the stock blank rotors are great, i have them on the MSP but as far as how the pads compare i dunno, i just get the ceramic ones and they dont see the same duty as you're looking for.
Hmmm...are any of those pads comparable to the Hawks? I don't really know my brake pads. Those rotors are cheap! At $39/set I might just pick some up, even though I don't think I need them right now.

I got the Axxis Ultimates from Jeff. They're soooo much better than the Hawks (HPS or HP+). I've got a really grabby pad in the rear (EBC Greenstuff) to help balance the brakes out some. The Miata's brakes are very front biased, and running a staggered setup seems to help (for me on street tires at least ;))

Problem with really grabby pads is usually that they need some heat to really get working. Any problem with the Greenstuffs there? Pull the parking brake a bit on your way to the line?

No, the greenstuffs work REALLY well cold, which is why I got them. Autocrossing, unless as you said you're pulling up the handbrake to get to the line and what not, you won't get enough heat in a pad like the HP+ to get it to work right. Since I'd rather concentrate on what I'm going to do on my run, instead of whether or not the pads have heat in them, that's what I went with.

Is this a different pad setup than last year when I drove the car in Alabama?

Yup, all different. I believe at that time I was running the HP+ front and HPS rear. As you probably remember, lockup after lockup. The new pads I have no problem modulating.

congrats on the miater kinda ironic found out there is going to be an addition to my family last night when my bro told me i am going to be an uncle

Okay, so you were all screwed up when you put that together, huh?

EBC pads = s***

You could run stock Mazda pads in the rear and be fine.

Rotors, just get the cheapest blanks you can find. Proper bedding is more important than anything else.

Actually a lot of folks do the opposite. Stock fronts, and then something grabby in the rear. I had the EBCs all around on the P5 and wasn't terribly pleased (grabby when bone cold, then they fall off significantly after a few big applications), but they've done a great job at balancing out the brakes on the miata. To each his own though ;)

Ok, looks like I've got bigger problems now. When I went to pull it into the garage this afternoon, it would fire, but then die. If I gave it gas it would run, and seemed to run a bit longer as it got warmed up, but died each time.

Anyone want to come by some time and help me figure this thing out?
