I test drove one of those in 2002-- they are quick-- have slightly more power than the Mazdaspeed out of the box. I agree the handling is no match for the Protege's but they are good cars. Nice choice-- traitor. ;)

lol, i wanted a protege really bad though. the suspension isn't stock. i was looking at the car when it was close to scotts car, and it's alot lower. one of my fingers barely makes it in the rear, and about 2 for the fronts. i had to go to the dealer today because the car started to crank weird, and on the way there the radio speaker started to go in and out with the cd player, but it work with just the radio on. i have to bring the car back up there tuesday to put spark plugs in it, and see what's up with the stereo. the manager said they will replace both front speakers for free, so i might just do that because it doesn't hurt to get a new one(rockford fosgate's). any hot dog, i was looking at the wheels and i was like there is no way it came stock being that low. it sits pretty low, so i turned the wheel to take a look, and it's definitely sitting on eibach springs, but here are some pics in my driveway.

lol, it has a full extended warranty until 100k miles or 6 years. i'll bring it out though, but i have to take it to the dealer to get some new spark plugs(i think that's what it needs) or something because earlier today it would start until i cranked the car for like 8 or so seconds. the dealer is also checking the stereo out because earlier today the driver side speaker was playing low while listening to cd's in the disc changer. when i put the radio on or used the single cd player, it worked fine. it goes out when the disc changer is playing.

the autocross today seemed fun, and i really wanted to put my car in, but i had to get a hair cut, take my friend home, and go to the dealer for my 2nd set of keys.

Awsome choice, I love those cars. There are a few mods you need to do right away if they're not already done to keep it running well, jsut check out the sentra forums. Those front ends are just sex, and with a nice set of coilovers, they will make you happy in the twisties again.

yeah i went to nissanforums.com, and i found out about the cranking issue. apparently the 02's had a lot recalls, so the guys there, said take it to the place i got it, have them send it to nissan, and get all of the recalls checked and fixed. other than that, they were like the car is reliable and expect to get like 20-23mpg if i like to drive at high revs. i learned that today because i had to get gas today. i had a full tank yesterday, and i've already put 325 miles on the car. it was on a quarter tank at like 8 tonight, so i went to go fill it up again. i've been driving a lot today, and on the highway. im going to calculate how my mpg this week, and shift at 2500rpms only.

come on Michael, you know I was still pulling from you on GA400 today. That was a fun drive, we got from Mansell Rd to Turner Field in 20 minutes easy with stopping to pay the toll.

u were pulling kinda far from me when i was in 6th gear. i think my car would beat ur car from 0 to 50 or so mph, then u'll win from there on. the sentra's high end is blah. my protege seems faster when it got to 100mph, but i barely went 100mph today, and when i did i was in 6th gear. my friend thought it was coo, then he was like u drive too fast. jamaica was keeping up, but i passed him once to catch up with u. with an intake, header, and exhaust, i think we would be fairly even. right now, ur car is faster.

that gobs of power remark from autoweek is true because from like 5k to 6200rpm redline, it like jumps through the rpms. i've shifted over 6200rpm a couple of times, but i think i have the hang of it. it revs quick in 1st and 2nd gear. 3rd is kinda slow and 4th is fast. well, 4th is faster than 3rd. the only thing im not liking is 1st is 30mph, 2nd is 50mph, 3rd is like 75ish(not sure), and 4th is 98mph(20 or so mph per gear). really short gears because im use to 1st being like 33ish, 2nd 60mph, 3rd 80mph, 4th118mph, 5th 138mph(this can't be the true mph, but that's as high as the protege went. i was driving to georgia southern when i did this with the enkei wheels on the car, so tach was definitely off), and no 6th. well, so far im liking the car a lot. it's just as fun the protege, but i dont get that suspension treatment like the protege. as long as im having fun, that's all that matters for me in a car.

with a close ratio 6-spd, you'll be rowing the gears a lot more

it only has a 6200rpm redline?

the engine is a long stroke engine so it has a low redline. It makes oodles of torque though however it suffers when it comes to upgrades as far as money per HP. There are a coupla "free HP" mods i know you can do to it to grab a little more out of the engine but as far as i know you are still in the realm of the protege when it comes to the aftermarket

michael, you dont happen to still have the brackets for the strut bar do you?

^do u have Cruise control, if not you dont need the bracket. and even if you do i never used them with my CC

I'm guessing I'm "Jamaica"...ha ha. Alot of ppl refer to me as that...taken graciously as a compliment.
Wait til Jamaica gets his poor-ject.
Jamaica is going to whooping azzes.
Jamaica will pawn you.
Yes you, Jamaica will be hitting the streets.
In a ________ _____ with a ______ and huge _______ up front, that's what Jamaica will have.
Questions for Jamaica?
No, Jamaica has not smoked himself silly.

Atleast, not quite yet ;)
