Another blown engine.

This may be a performance car, but it doesn't mean you can drive it at redline all the time. I know of someone who blew their engine at 25,000 miles because he constantly brought the RPM's up to 6k or so before shifting. Duh!!! Not you, him!! I'm not saying that this is what happened with you, but I don't know how you drive.

Im not gonna lie, I do race the car every now and then, but daily driving Id say Im very very soft on the car, shift slow and at the right rpms. Also when I do race it, I dont push every little drop of power it has, sometimes I even prefer to start on a higher gear so I dont have to start the race at like 5500rpms or so, even if that means losing the race. The last engine never ever felt what a rev limiter was, so I guess it was a lemon :(

wow that sucks dude. Stories like these make me very glad that i got a VW 1.8T Jetta instead of a mazdaspeed back in 03. Dont got me wrong, i love mazda's , but i get piece of mind, and im running 20+ psi daily. iI just got a GT28rs Turbo kit for it and putting it on in about a week.
320 whp here i come lol (drive2) But could'nt you avoid this but putting in some forged connecting rods? Or is the block weak as well? Good luck

if you need to buy a girdle ill sell you one for $50.

and btw you can run 6000rpm in these engines all day long. obviously the people who rebuilt your engine did a poor job, I doubt it has anything to do with the fsde being a fsde. any engine will fail if improperly rebuilt. from what ive heard from members of other boards, jasper is pretty terrible.

+1

they already got one from the dealer, they coulndt keep the car too long on the lift so they had to overnight the girdle.

Thanks for the offer though.

So Jasper isnt that great? My mechanic says that their engines never fail and that is really weird this happened. Argh

On a side note, what can cause the oil to get that dirty/abused in 4 days? I was there during the oil change, I bought the oil myself (Mobil 1 high perf) and the filter was changed also. and they drained, and put the new one in in front of me.

Now that I think about it the old engine used to always have dark ass oil in it, no matter if it was freshly put it, however, the new engine thats on the car now already has 1,000 miles on the new engine and the oil is still clear.

Makes me wonder...

improper assembly and incorrect break in procedure could do it... my guess is that one or both of the above caused your terminal failure.

I guess the engine was improperly assembled since I did drive it like 2500rpm was the redline for the first 1,000 miles. However, the new engine is taking a good beating, since being nice to it didnt work, lets see if being agressive will make it stronger.

my car regularly sees 6700 almost daily @10-12psi, with never having an issue (knock on wood) since new, the only thing I can atribute to it is the constant oil changes I do well before its time to change the oil. Or by the grace and blessings of the Mazda gods I got a decent motor from the factory.

my money is excessive heat internaly due to oil starvation at some point inside the motor, like maybe some breakin debres caught somewhere and restricting the oil flow.

Don't feel bad man, I have had my MSP since june 07 blew 5 days later got it rebuilt forged and is in the shop getting a rebuild again. Still owe 12k on car and ive spent over 5.5k on maintaining it and rebuilding so on and so forth.

Its stock still too aside from forged internals :( Once i get it back on the road im paying it off as fast as possible and getting rid of it. I'll never own another FS-DE again, after a protege and mx-6 im done.

More than likely it was due to oil starvation im still trying to figure out what can be done aside from toga hv oil pump which i have heard nothing but bad about from the probe guys.

oh my you owe enough money on your car to buy a evo or sti. man i feel sorry for your bad luck. so are you on your third build

ya thats the thing with modding cars that arent paid off, you feel really really stupid when they break and you are still making monthly payments on a "paper weight".

been there. still paying off car for another 1.5 yrs.. gotta love mazdas 60 month finance.
