(peep) Well I for one wanted to see the gloves come off.
that oil looks a little dark to be changed four days ago... you say you had the oil changed or did you change it yourself?
if you need to buy a girdle ill sell you one for $50.
and btw you can run 6000rpm in these engines all day long. obviously the people who rebuilt your engine did a poor job, I doubt it has anything to do with the fsde being a fsde. any engine will fail if improperly rebuilt. from what ive heard from members of other boards, jasper is pretty terrible.
On a side note, what can cause the oil to get that dirty/abused in 4 days? I was there during the oil change, I bought the oil myself (Mobil 1 high perf) and the filter was changed also. and they drained, and put the new one in in front of me.
improper assembly and incorrect break in procedure could do it... my guess is that one or both of the above caused your terminal failure.
my car regularly sees 6700 almost daily @10-12psi, with never having an issue (knock on wood) since new, the only thing I can atribute to it is the constant oil changes I do well before its time to change the oil. Or by the grace and blessings of the Mazda gods I got a decent motor from the factory. This may be a performance car, but it doesn't mean you can drive it at redline all the time. I know of someone who blew their engine at 25,000 miles because he constantly brought the RPM's up to 6k or so before shifting. Duh!!! Not you, him!! I'm not saying that this is what happened with you, but I don't know how you drive.
my money is excessive heat internaly due to oil starvation at some point inside the motor, like maybe some breakin debres caught somewhere and restricting the oil flow.they already got one from the dealer, they coulndt keep the car too long on the lift so they had to overnight the girdle.
Thanks for the offer though.
So Jasper isnt that great? My mechanic says that their engines never fail and that is really weird this happened. Argh

Now that I think about it the old engine used to always have dark ass oil in it, no matter if it was freshly put it, however, the new engine thats on the car now already has 1,000 miles on the new engine and the oil is still clear.
Makes me wonder...
