Hey everyone...aside from mazda's I am a huge animal lover and I have been since i could remember and i have hopes to one day become a vet after I have finished my time in the military..Well aside from constantly browsing these forums, which I love to death, Im also visiting some of my other favorite websites and I came upon a story I'd like to share and some of you might think im crazy but I guess this is really for the animal lovers and this story just shows me that in a messed up world that some people still have a heart..click on this link...https://www.bestfriends.org/guardianangel/index.cfm?csid=2367&csii=2369&csit=Set and let me know what you think..I am also active in several campaigns to stop animal cruelty, animal testing, puppy mills and i support humane society's and non-kill shelters...some of the orginizations I support are www.aspca.org, www.bestfriends.org and www.peta.org I would encourage anyone to check them out and maybe donate to help, that would be awesome..Am I in no way a vegan or a "hippie" but i do believe that animals are creatures with feelings and emotions and that being cruel and inhumane is wrong...thanks guys (rockon)

I love animals too. usually with a nice rosemary rub, and a little bit of lime.

Seriously, If I had room for a dog, i'd get a rescue too. But I live in a 1 bedroom condo and am away from home too much...

my female Katie is a sad story.. She was living in a house with 13 other cats, and there were domestic abuse issues. She was rescued very thin, and very ratty.

I adopted her from a shelter in Langhorne PA. She was a little shy at first,
and she had just been spayed when I got her so she had a shaved belly. In the three years I've had her, she's gained her weight back and become one of the most friendly felines I've ever come across. She's my little shadow around the house.

My reg day job office has an 'office cat' that I got from the local animal rescue league. I know a lot of you don't have the kind of job where this is possible, but I gotta tell you, having her around has had a 100% positive effect on everyone here.
My wife is a severe asthmatic or my own house would be over-run with dogs & cats!

I dont believe in paying for animals, other then adoption fees... especially from pet stores when there are plenty of good animals needing good homes from shelters and also i think i know what your talking about being on a ranch...I eat meat as much as any other person does, killing animals to eat as aposed to just being downright sick and degenerate or just irresponsible or killing for fun or game...But Also with that comes over-population so theres so many loop holes...Its good to know everyone rescues animals here, You guys are awesome...

Aww im sure they are very greatful for you...

I'm horrified by what I see on the news these days. People cutting, burning, beating and neglecting animals is just unimaginable to me. The shelters in North Texas are overflowing due to several puppy mill raids in the last few weeks. They showed the horrible conditions on the news and as hard as it is to shock me..I was shocked. Filth beyond anything you can imagine. It's beyond my comprehension how anyone could treat animals this way...especially the little helpless ones. I don't cry often, but I tear up every time I see the SPCA commercial with Sara McLauglin. It's heartbreaking. I'd save them all if I could.

There is my big ole weeny, we adopted her from a shelter 3 hours away. Best mistake I ever made :D We got her when she was shy...sometimes I miss tho times. She had more than doubled her weight and tripled her energy. If there is a dog ADD this one has it...

im also setup with the aspca to do a regular donation monthly, I would adopt them all if I could after going to multiple shelters and seeing all the little animals faces, but I cant so I do my part by donating to help build more shelters, keep more animals fed, and help get them adopted. Its a great cause. Take a look at it this way, dont eat that extra big mac and donate your money towards something of this sort.

This is my best buddy lucky...I named him lucky cause he was one day away from being put down in the shelter cause he had been there for over a year and the lady didnt have the heart to put him down cause he has such a great perosnality and friendly..I found him, actually he found me...I was looking in the cages looking at kittens and i looked down to an orange arm patting at my leg...I had to have him..He came home with me and wasted no time making himself at home...Hes a spaz, mostly in the middle of night when im trying to sleep...he's been staying with the mother-in-law while im deployed, I miss the little guy

I have to psych myself up to even go to a shelter most times. I can't mentally detatch myself from what they're going through and I get upset and want to take them all home.

I finally decided to adopt a dog a few months ago and ...call me a baby...but I left most shelters in tears. It wasn't because the conditions were bad...because most, if not all were nice and clean and they were treated well. But even the best shelters are little more than prisons where good animals sometimes wait a very long time to be blessed with a good home.

This dog has been up for adoption for the better part of a year, and I have no idea why. He came for a home visit but wasn't right for my other dog and my house because of his size. Otherwise, he was an absolute sweetheart. It breaks my heart to see him still waiting.

I hear you.. When they have the "adopt a kitty" people at Petsmart, I can't go near their setup or I'll bring all the cats home.
