Dealer did it for free, will the hardware store?I don't have a dealership near me. Any reason not to go to a hardware store to get the key cut? Other than to save a few bucks.
my thoughts exactly. Honestly, if I got the one on the left I'd send that pic in and I'd b**** about it. You can deny payment through that site, and getting an item different than whats advertised would be a good enough reason in my book. The left one doesn't look like an oemn piece.
So, I finally got the thing apart and took it to the dealership to get cut, and of course, they screw it up. Or at least I'm blaming it on them cause it's easier that way... It doesn't work. Won't go all the way in.
I took it to home depot to see if they can some how fix it, but it wouldn't even go in their machine. He was telling me he thinks the blank was defective because there was a small missing part at the tip. So who knows.
Did any one happen to buy an extra and want to sell it to me?
Or know if I can somehow put a new blank in there?
no, thats been discussed before, and was found not to be an issue.
you COULD (with a substantial amount of work) cut up an OEM key and get the blade in there.
Damn! I took the keyblade off the body and compared it to my original key- they don't match!! Did everyone get the right key? I'll post pics later but the tip of the new one tapers inward but my original goes out closer to the tip. I'm going to a key cutter now to see if this will be an issue. Wagonbacker, I may need to get a new blade- I'll let you know later.
Like replace it with one of These?
may work, remote isn't the SAME but is similar?Like replace it with one of These?
he confirmed that this was in fact not a problem... as I said before. Het got it cut and functioning. compare your 2 keys, if the cuts are the same (minus the irrelivant one on the tip) you have a different problem, but the blank has been confirmed working in more than 10 us and canadian cars, so I don't see that as being the issue.I'm having the same problem I think, unless the dealer just screw up the cut.
How did you get the keyblade off?
Also, what did you end up doing to get it working right?
its fleabay... shipping is either jacked up or free. LOLGeez...$6 to mail a stupid little metal strip.
Suppose you could. I just don't care for all the chrome on it and IMO, looks as cheap as the price AND...we got nothing in the key that needs programming by the dealership. It is a plain ass key with a key fob. The programming is all in the fob, which you can program with a diy how-to from this forum.Hope this isn't a repost, but what is everybody's thoughts on this:

It's not as OEM looking as the other option, but still looks good, and is about 1/2 price when you factor in buying another remote (btw: where do most people get another remote? eBay?) + buying the shell.
Anybody tried this yet?
