AMS SMIC or CS SMIC?

I am getting my BandP CustomMSP this saturday I think. I am going to his house to pick it up! I think its awesome and I will know soon enough when it is on my car. He is a great guy to deal with.

This will go with my Turbohoses hardpipes, AEM CAI, and Forge BOV and my iON exhaust when it gets here.

This will go with my:

InJen CAI
GReddy Type-S BOV w/ Recirc. Kit
Apexi 2.5" DP w/ Exhaust
ECU Flash

Im hoping to be between 220-230 HP

LETS ALL SAY A PRAY FOR ME!

go with the CS smic, I'll vouch for the quality...and as an added bonus being as that I like his so much I'll give ya a discount on our hardpipes if you do end up getting his SMIC...would actually be a great combo...

Hey DSM, if you meant CustomMSP's side mount, then that is exactly my plan. I PMd you a couple of days ago about hardpipes, not that a discount is really necessary, but I will certainly take it! Your pipes and his intercooler are where the tax return dollars are going! (drive)

custom MSP's sidemount is great.
it's the biggest SMIC out there compared to CS and turbohoses.
customMSP utilized every millimeter of space to fit the largest core.

BUT! but, the size of the IC does not make it a drop-in repplacement.
i've installed SMIC's, FMIC's and hardpipes on several MSP's.
i myself own a CS SMIC so i know it's not my lack of installation knowledge.
when installing CustomMSP SMIC into my friend's MSP we had to bend a piece of subframe that supports the left headlight and goes down to bumper support.
it also does not utilize the bottom extension that goes into the rubber support (unlike CS and turbohoses), and thus we had to make a rubber plate so that the SMIC would not rattle against the bumper support beam.
the fans do not sit flush either, with CS SMIC they do.

my CS dropped right in, took 30 min.
CustomMSP took 4 hours.

all that said i would still get customMSP's SMIC. it is a quality made piece, and is the largest SMIC made.
my friend is very happy with his purchase.
just be prepared to modify your car to make it fit.

Dr. Sound's statements are all true except the install time of 4 hrs, and all that is covered in my How To. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks.

i have the Circuit Sport SMIC I LOVE IT..feels great took an hour ( we took our time ) definately suggest the CS SMIC....

Im assuming that the CUSTOMMSP SMIC and the AMS SMIC add the most WHP the CS SMIC only adds like 10 WHP compared to the others....

I want one that is a DIRECT SWAP (not much modding or NO modding needed) and adds 15+ WHP? Which one should i go with then?

for the most part the customMSP is a direct swap. and the modifications are so minor that i didn't cosider them modifications. you bend a piece of sheet metal with some plyers and you bolt a fan on crooked. thats it. otherwise it's fine. i love mine. makes great power. boost comes on sooner, stays longer, and pulls harder. my best mod yet!

for the performance and price definetly get CustomMSP SMIC.
it's the cheapest, and i believe it will give the most gain.
plus it utilizes the space most effectively.

the piece that has to be bent will not be visible from any angle once the IC is in place.

with all the work it took to install customMSP SMIC it was still 10 times easier than installing a HiBoost FMIC kit......i'm not even talking about ION.

P.S. for the fans to sit more or less straight we used spacers on the right-side bolt.

hey thanks for all the info FBI14. I was too caught up looking at specs and prices (didn't even realize that it was a limited production run).

As for CustomMSP's fans being at an angle, will this hit the intake? I have a AEM intake (which i regret purchasing), and space does look a little tight. Sorry, if this question has been addressed, but the only answers I found were regarding the Injen intake.
