amp location

would there be any disadvantages in putting an amp upside down in between the two stock speakers in the trunk??

if you don't understand let me know

hmmmm.... anytime you put an amp upside down, you're making it more difficult to dissapate heat (which rises upwards)...usually the amp cools through those little groove that you see in the heat sinks.

might work out fine, ... depends on the amp... how hot it runs, etc.

also seems like a difficult place to mount? you know the whole gravity thing... would suck to hit a few bumps, and have your amp take a dive.

just my 2 cents.

= fp

that isnt a good idea, it wont be able dissipate heat and it will just shut off and turn on again when its cool...

I agree with the other guys.....I have been doing a bit of research on the subject (installs that is) and I have run across that a few times in tips sections.....things NOT to do...and one of them was to NOT install them hanging from rear decks for the very above mentioned reasons.

I have actauly seen it done OK before. You guys might remember that white monte carlo Boston Acoustics had as a demo car. the one with the single Pro 12 sub on the side and the BA 3 ways up front. Anyways it actualy mounted its amp upside down, I believe it was ADS. I had to fix it once, just a loose remote wire but none the less its been fine.

If you have to do it Becarefull of the amp, No FOsgate they run way to hot, only run 4 ohm loads and no bridging to 4 ohms either. A fan blowing across it would be a definite.

also the Xtant X series amps can do this mount no rpoblem becuase they mount all transistors in a chamber that has a sucking fan on one side and a blowing fan on the other.
I like to call it 69 technology.

never mount an amp upside down?
I totally agree, apparently the designers of my MSP did not though......

woops, we mounted upside down amps in 2000 cars, woops!
lol
