Amp installation

10" amp, I think you mean sub?? In any case the size (in inches) really isnt important - its the amperage that is important

in meaning the 10" sub with the amp. but i have no clue on where to start with installing the amp. I've done this before on other cars, but all of them had aftermarket cd players, so i was just wondering if i had to splice wires. Its an oem radio so currently im clueless, and i just got the car yesterday and need help!

Oh man I dunno Ive never had to install a system from scratch. My car came with an aftermarket system and Ive done lots of work to the sub/speaker/amp setup but haven't worked with the connection to the head unit. Sorry

buy an amp installation kit. i got one from Kicker. it will supply you with all the cables needed.

you'll also need a LOC, which i installed behind the head unit. here is a picture i used to connect the LOC to the wiring harness.

pick one.

from there, run all wires to the trunk and connect to amp. good luck.

If you are driving a GT with the built in sub I would advise against the LOC for sounds quality purposes just cut the VGA plugs off one side and splice them into the speaker wires... A LOC will act as a filter too and there is already a built in filter in the factory amp.
