Alternator Removal?

So today thanks to all you guys, I was able to change my alternator. Everything went well, except for the start up test. Car turned on like a champ but when I turned the lights on, they flickered and i lost my low beams. Then my high beams. Before i changed it, they were fine. The reason i changed the alt was because the wire (not the plug) was getting too hot and smoking.. Any idea why?? I did notice my fog lights a little brighter than before. Cohld my new alt be over charging??? Thanks

Pics please! Any and all. I'm not much of a gear-head or torquer, more home remodel oriented, but manage to bang my way through most tasks with the right pictures to guide me!!!

Thanks guys.

B. Remove 2 10mm bolts holding the bracket with two PS hoses in front of the strut tower. Lift that bracket off the bolts, so that you have room for the hoses to be pulled down.

C. Under the car, remove 3 10mm bolts (or loosen and rotate clamps out of the way) that hold down the PS hoses. I think all of these are attached to the PS rack itself. Two bolts are near each other, the third one is on *top* of the PS rack, towards the middle of the car. You can get it at it from the top or from the bottom, whatever's easier. Just follow the path of the PS hoses/lines.

D. Now you have wiggle room to push these hoses DOWN out of the way, which allows you to remove the alternator. Removing it is like playing tetris in your engine bay. I first got the pulley over the PS hoses and then was able to lift the alternator over the PS hoses. Then, I had to rotate it 90 degrees to lift it out entirely.

THANKS! I struggled getting it out until I saw this advice. Took mine out today at 85,000 miles.

First time I had to remove the three point strut brace in eight years, wasn't too bad. Tried the bottom but that wasn't happening. I guess I'll take it to be rebuilt tomorrow
