Altered Customs FMIC build

I just got my slimline fans off of eBay, but I also have the CS radiator which is huge compared to the stock one.. I put a pusher on the outside of the a/c condenser (9") and then a 14" fan (puller) on the radiator inside the engine bay.

how's the cs radiator?? i've been debating whether or not to get the cs full rad or the awr full rad..

To me it seems thicker than the other one I had.. was it PWR or AWR? Can't remember.. but yeah, I like this one fine, definitely works how it should, it's just waaay bigger than I thought LOL. I measured before I bought it, but once it got here, just seeing it in person was like, wow, this thing is freakin big. I managed to fit my fan and the piping, etc. fine though, so it all worked out.

I *might* be selling mine soon, just for the fact that I am selling my car and if I don't have a private person buy it with everything that's already on it, I'll be taking off what I can and going back near stock. I don't see any point in taking it to a dealer with all the mods since they won't have any idea what they do anyway. I've been looking for a stock radiator if anyone knows of one before I go out and buy a new one *cringe* for nearly $300.

well.. i'll have my msp soon. i'd trade plus cash for it!

damn I think about getting this every day lol, but I don't have the money yet, and I have spent so much on my SMIC kit, but anyways I am curious is there any other possible way to run the pipping so it doesn't go through the CAI hole?.. I would really like to keep my CAI where it is, and I intend on getting this possibly during the summer

I looked on my car since I have the bumper off, and the only way you can avoid the CAI hole is to cut two holes in the side and front of your frame for the pipe to go into and through, and it would then curve sharply around to connect to the FMIC. It would route it below the CAI piping. It would require a different piping direction than what the kit has, but we could figure it out if that's something you want to do.. but that cutting in the frame is going to be a you-know-what vs. just having a SRI. No doubt you'd want to remove some stuff before you go to cutting your frame inside the engine bay.

ya i hear what your sayin, what about stock smic location? doesn't work going through there?.. even thought there is a good chance I might want to get a full radiator if I end up getting the FMIC, but either way what your saying is that if I end up ordering the kit later in the summer possibly (depending on how my smic holds out) than it would be possible to get the kit so that it would route through the frame, if this would mean that I would be able to get the piping a lot shorter and direct routes to the FMIC I wouldn't mind cutting it, but I will give it more thought once I get closer to that point, just wanted to get an idea of how it could work and if it was possible to get altered(no pun intended) kits. thanks

Well, if you did use the stock SMIC location the length of the FMIC core is going to be an issue since it extends well past the area where the SMIC would be, and your stock radiator wouldn't be held up by anything since the SMIC aids in supporting the radiator. With the piping goes through the frame, you're actually going to be adding a bit more piping than the original design, since you have to go down, over, down, then over again to get to the FMIC. The original design offers a straighter flow, whereas going through the frame is going to add more curves to it, and make it a bit longer. I would not think there would be much of a power issue between CAI vs. SRI that would be worth all the hassle of cutting two holes in the frame, but that's up to you.

I've done several special orders where I work with the person and figure up what they need to get the kit to work with their setup. Fishdonotbounce was one of them, we both felt like we took a college algebra class after we got it figured out LOL. But yeah, if that's what you want to do we can get it figured out.. but once I sell my car I won't have a MSP to go out and look at every now and then to see if something will fit, so after that is gone the special order kits will probably be limited. Just let me know when you get ready and I'll figure out what you will need, but just remember it is going to add more piping and more sharp curves to get it to the FMIC on the cold side.

ok thanks for the info, I will deffitenly do that, and probably by the time I want to get one, I will end up needing to figure out the route/the piping length if I wanted to try something different since like you said you wouldn't have your car most likely, and ya I realized that the SMIC section wouldn't work out a little while after I posted that, but I guess I need to see how the actual bumper is set up in person to see how the FMIC pipes would fit going through the frame, I had my car when it was totaled with the front bumper off, but the front frame was tweaked a little and well now there is no front frame, so it doesn't give a few good idea lol, ill just have to look at my new one when I am ready, I had just thought that it could cut out directly through the side where the FMIC ends.. but I think there is either a lot of support bars or something there.. or some piece in the frame/bumper that doesn't allow it to go the way I am thinking of in my head.. (if that at all makes any sense) but I will definitely let you know, it will be a while but ya just wanted to get things figured out a little now . thanks

X2 on the CS radiator. I love mine...
As far as the FMIC and CAI go. Your better off just running a SRI. you could always just shield it off. Another option is to run the SRI into that wheel well another way. It would be easier to reroute the intake piping, then the cold pipe and FMIC location. Actually I picture the intake piping going straight into the inner wall of the fender, under the coolant overflow bottle, since your going to have to cut a hole anyway

i changed my intake so that it sits right next to the tranny pointing down toward the ground at a slight angle.. ill get some pics later
