alright - here goes. KL-P5-take2

have him get ahold of me - I'm going to be looking and saving my pennies.

I'd rather get the PNP because of the ease of installation - but if I have to get a MS2/3 and pin things out - I'll do it. Wiring isn't that hard, right?

I sent him a PM to get in touch with you. VERY excited to see the turbo build coming along. And I went with the PNP to keep the wiring simple but I don't know jack about wiring. I had friends help me with all of that. It's good to have engineers as friends. ;)

1 down - 3 to go. Looks ghetto having 1 bronze wheel and 3 silver but meh......can't rush perfection.

I was juuuust about the let you know about the thread I made on PT if it will help you with your turbo build too. I went over there to get the link and saw you already posted in there. Haha

Wheels looks good, mang!

yeah I saw that while lurking on PT.

What style FMIC are you running? Being that the KL turbo will be placed differently than a normal FS would be - I figured I'd use a single-side (in/out on driver's side) IC and it'd make the plumbing loads easier.

That's what I plan to do as well. Did you see that GReddy intercooler that sold on PT a couple weeks ago? I'm not really sure why cats don't run the same side inlet/outlet on their PGT's. Running that pipe right over the front exhaust mani and radiator is going to heatsoak like crazy. For us, it's going to have to be all custom. But baller. ;)

Actually that Greddy was the trigger for the idea to use that style IC.

The kit I have has 2.5" piping and t-clamps. I'd rather do away with the clamps on all but the snail, the IC, and the tb. All other joints will be welded for a "no-leak" scenario. No chance of it popping off either.....

I like the color, but would have preferred the 40 series sidewalls. Looking good though!

I now would've preferred bigger sidewall tires too - better grip. It would've been a better ride also.

I'll wait for these to wear out - then go to a 40 series. I'll need it with boost....lol.

the damn disty went tits up yesterday!

I plowed through testing, after testing, after testing....HEI mod, a OBDI disty - all no go.

Went today to the JY, pulled a 1999 Millenia disty - installed it and bam - started first try. Even got the timing damn near perfect without a light.

for those planning a KL swap - be warned that the distributors in the KL family are crap. They will fail u.
for those with the swap already - get a spare....lol.

Wait, a Milly disty worked? What ECU are you using?

Regardless, that still sucks. I've got 4 of them in the garage. haha

yes - a 99 milly disty worked. The ID plate read K834 with a big E. The one I pulled read the same and looked the same (plus the car had just over 60k when it was totalled in the ass-end.). Ofcourse I took it, swapped disty's - and it fired right up.

Either the internal ignition module went poof or the coil went dead. The symptom was weak spark but it did spark. When I pulled the codes from the ECU - it stated that the Crank/Cam sensor was problematic - now it reads no issues.

oooooo linky the PT thread please! I'd love to follow along with a boost thread.

Ya I should probably get a spare disty lol... I think its normally the module that goes.

Actually - I'm not too sure it was the module that went poof - I think it was more the coil because of a very VERY weak spark on the plugs. They were sparking in succession, and if I counted right - during the cranking cycle they sparked every 6th cycle.

It's either the coil or the Cam sensor, because I cleared the codes (had an error code 4 - camshaft sensor when things went wrong), then tested again with no codes - clear as cna be until I tried to start it. The 04 came back.
