new member threads, but no new info. I'm not complaining about having more members. Shoot, thats always nice, more people to do experiments on their cars and new faces to meet, but seriously is there anyone modding their cars? i dont see any builds or anything.

WHERE'S THE BUILD THREADS PEOPLE!(boom05)

what kind of build threads are you looking for?

like build threads on speed. like engine swap a ms3 engine or putting in forged internal and auto-xing so on and so forth. i'd like to see alot of custom things done to mz3's so far all i'm seeing is the ms3 guys doing things

Ooh. I kinda doubt you might catch a MS3 engine swap into a regular engine but now a days you never know. I plan on starting my own Mz3 thread within a couple weeks but lately i've been slacking on the picture side. Soon I'll have some pulleys, header and rear engine mount to install. Stay tune for that. (evil)

meh. Unless someone gives me a blank check, I'm not changing anything.

Even if I could afford to do anything mechanical to my car, I'd only go so far as a bigger FSB, Bilsteins, and a cat-back (w/o 2nd cat delete).
Once I kill my current summer tires, maybe then I'll consider another set of wheels. That way, I'd have a stock set for winter, another for autoX, and one for the street.
It may not be the fastest car, but I'm having too much fun in H-Stock.

Aside from all that, I might build a car PC sometime in the future (when I have some cash after getting race tires) and get one of those aftermarket lcd screens that mimic the factory nav screen...

this is the type of things im wanting to read about when i come onto a forum, you know? this place seems pretty dull with out them. Everyone just seems to toss on exhaust or lower it and thats all they'll do. No turbo'ing or anything major, just the small stuff. I'd like to be inspired to do something to my car.

i dunno, maybe im just tired of ONLY SEEING problems and questions about "does this look good?" makes me want to join another forum

my take is people who want to do that type of stuff just start out with the speed 3 because it saves them a lot of time/effort/headache. people who buy the regular 3 buy it because it's a good A to B car. that's why i bought mine and i plan to keep it mostly stock with any mods being simply to improve breathing for better gas mileage. i don't ever think you're going to get a lot of those other threads because of the speed 3, the almost non-existant aftermarket, and the reason people buy the car in the first place

I don't think you've looked into the aftermarket support much. There are a lot of options for us MZ3 guys. I haven't made a build thread simply because I drive the car so much. I attend at least 3 driving events per month. I'm on several forums so maintaining a build thread is a lot of hassle when I could be out having fun in the car...which is why I bought it in the first place.

i have. i'd put the 3 aftermarket on par with the protege aftermarket. most things that you'd want are available but you're looking at only a handful of vendors and nobody really putting a lot of R&D time or money into anything. compare that to a real performance car aftermarket where you have dozens of vendors competing and spending lots of money to try to differentiate themselves from the other vendors. so in my mind the aftermarket support is almost non-existant.

I can understand where your coming from but the 3 aftermarket support is just starting off slow like the 2.0l protege did around the time the MSP was came out. A large following were converting over to MSPs and very few were boosting their proteges. A few years later, we have more boosted proteges running MSP turbos and aftermarket turbos then we have people driving MSPs. Eventually it will be the sameway with the regular 3s once the aftermarkets catches up....and it WILL. We already have a decent amount of support but companies just haven't devoted more time and effort, but eventually they will. So far we have 5 companies/vendors who has produced a turbo kit out for the regular 3 and one currently in the process of trying to make a Supercharger kit for the 3. The speed3 aftermarket is growing very rapidly, kudos to them. Don't sleep on the regular 3 cause our will be just as big or even bigger! (2thumbs)
