All-season tires for MSP

Looking for some tires that have great grip, low road noise, and won't have me sliding all over the road in the snow. Am I asking too much?

What would you recommend? Preferably $125/tire or less.

asking too much. i have kuhmo asx's, they do their job, but not that great in good or bad weather

Anyone ever used Falken 912s? I had the 512s on my old Accord and they were okay, but I'm not sure how they'd be on the MSP.

suck it up and buy dedicated winters. i finally did for my p5 and couldnt be happier. im done with all seasons in winter time.

It's really not worth it to me for the 2-3 snows we have each year. I just want something that isn't going to be complete s*** for the few times it does snow. The ones I have on there now are just horrible. I can take a turn at 2mph and spin out.

Just go with a set of summers and try not to drive often when it snows...or be extra-cautious. All-seasons do nothing, you will manage just fine with summers if you are sensible when it gets colder out and even then, like you said it never gets that bad.

Worst advice ever!!! Not trying to slam you but it just takes one good snow to loose your car or life. Best thing I did was was buy a used set of snow tires and rims. They were only $200 for all four on a set of steelies. These are care are great in the snow with snow tires are dangerous without. I run Dunlop Dz 101's in spring summer and fall and swap out to the Blizzacks on heavy steelies for winter. My first winter with summer tires was a wake-up call.
All seasons are called "no" seasons for a reason. A $200 investment is a small amount considering the investment in the rest of my car. Just consider that!

Buying summer tires and 'sticking it out' in the snow is the most foolish suggestion you could make. That is, if you value your car, your life, and other people's lives and property.

You can pick up a set of used wheels with winter tires here on the forums, or on Ebay or Craigslist -- probably for LESS than you'd spend on a new set of tires.

Trust us when we say that IT IS WORTH IT. Suck it up and spend the extra money. You'll be glad you did when you can get around safely in that one 'freak' snowstorm .. versus sliding off the road into the nearest tree.

Hell I agree with you, I have snow tires but she said it only snows three times at most and doesn't want to spend money on an expensive set of winters. If a used set is available then that would be a great alternative. Not saying winter tires aren't important...I live in the capital of Canada....

I guess I've never thought about buying USED snow tires. I'll check around and see what I can find. Isn't storing them properly a pain? I somewhat remember someone talking about how you have to be careful with how you store them... and this may be a dumb question, but how long will they last just sitting around? Will they dry rot if they're only being used maybe a month or two out of the year? I know nothing about this, so those may be silly questions, but please answer anyway.

I throw mine in my shed for 8 months out of the year and they barely even loose pressure. I didn't drive my car last winter so they sat for the entire year. There is no special way to store snow tires and nothing will happen to them if they sit.

^^ What he said! Mine generally sit for about 8 months outta the year too. Just make sure you store 'em somewhere decent -- any sort of garage or storage shed or basement will be great. All you should have to do when you put 'em on each season is check the tire pressure.

It takes YEARS of non-use and sitting out in the sun for a tire to dry rot.

I just got a set of Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position. We've had a lot more snow than we usually do, I've been satisfied with them in the wet, dry & snow.
