Alarm problem

Did someone know how to set the alarm to make no sound when it gets activated?
I notice that some MP5 do not make any sound when activate the alarm. Mine make two loud horn sounds when is activated. Someone tells me that it have to be set to make no sound.

I don't think there is a no sound setting....if you only push the button once it shouldn't make a sound. When you push it a second time it makes a loud "honk." I've read the alarm section and the installation section and the only thing I think we can set is the sensitivity. I could be wrong though.

Do you have amzda keyless entry and security or did you buy the alarm after selecting the car?

Yeah, that's the difference most of the time. Keyless entry (not an alarm) blinks but makes no sound. However, supposedly the alarm that Mazda put on there does have a valet setting or something that lets it go quiet. If you have the aftermarket, hold pressing both buttons to switch modes. I'm just repeating what I've heard in other threads, I have ordinary ol' keyless entry.

I don't know about the Protege but my old MX-6 that had the exact same keyless basicly one press locked doors and passively armed the car in 20 seconds. 2 presses armed the car imediatly.

Press lock twice with the window down wait 1 minute then open the door and see if the alarm goes off.

then try it with one press.

The alarm that has my car is the one that Mazda make. I know that is possible to be deactivated pushing a button underneath the glove compartment. I understand that when I press the lock button twice it closes.

I asked because Mazda of Puerto Rico sent me a letter addressed to all Puerto Rico MP5 owners that if they want that the alarm did not sound when it activates that we need to go to the dealer to set it. They came to this decision in response of all the complaints they had from the alarm setting.
I asking if someone has the same problem and if know how Mazda solve it.

P5 Keyless Entry...

only sounds the horn when you push the lock button on the key fob twice. One push locks the doors without the sound. Don't know about the logic behind that. Jim
