haha screw the school bus ... almost everyone that's a junior or senior at my school has a car ... i went with the 6 instead of the accord coupe nd here i am now :)

good f'n move!

I couldn't remember where I posted this. I thought it was on the 6 forums.

Anyway, now that I know what this mod is, I did it myself. BUT...

The "tuba" piece. I wouldn't remove that. If you notice, the hole it makes it sitting right behind the rad fan. I dunno about you all, but I'm not a big fan of forcing hot ass air into my intake.

Da 6 was right about the short ram intake. I had one on my Protege and took it off after 2 years. The car is now much more responsive on the low end. A total waste of money IMO. Another suggestion if you want your car a little louder is to buy new mufflers. You could have a shop weld them in for you for maybe $175. Its a little more expensive considering you have a dual exhaust, but would sound pretty nice.

I forgot to mention that as well. scuba is bad idea wherever it is but complete removal is the worst of the mods. I left mine on so it looked stock when they do the full circle inspections.

yes and no. The scubas stock location does nothing for performance. The hood on the 6 has 2 seals in the front alone so the positioning means nothing cause it still sucks in the radiator air. Pop the hood one day and look at it. There is the initial seal near the lip and then another seal like an inch behind it that sits on top of the radiaror when closed.

This is stupid of me, but i attempted this mod...earler yesterday, I had trouble lifting the top of the airbox from the bottom, the directions say there are 4 clips holding the lid of the airbox down. I only saw two....and getting the big tube connecting to the engine body is a pain too..I don't want to break anything.

Nope, 3 plastic nipples on bottom airbox being held bown by rubber washers on a gold metal bracket. take phillips and disconnect the bellows(blaccaccordian thinggy) tube from airbox side, disconnect maf by the clasp or 2 philips screws, and pull the green connectionon oppiside of the box(green connection with mitsu symbols on bottom half of sensor) before pulling up on airbox. Wish I was in va with my car! I could snap pictures and post a thread in less than 10.

Just did the airbox mod without removing the resonator...and I LOVE it.........I feel the gain, 3 hp I recommend this mod to anyone who doesn't want a CAI yet, or who is saving up for one , or Who wants to keep the car relatively stock (thumb) ...I WAS FLYIN THROUGH MY Neighborhood......So much more pick up

The most gains of the entire mod was the resonator delete. Resonator delete was sientificly proven to make more a difrence than running stock w/o a filter in place whatsoever.

*Jack front left of car up
*Remove the drivers tire
*Remove the 4 most frontal pop rivets in splashguard
*Remove the 3(4 if you have lip kit)screws for the bottom end of splash guard and pry it back(03) Remove the screws for the back half of under splash guard and pry it back(04ish and up)
*locate the black plastic box thingy(resonator)
*Find the single gold in color 10mm(IIRC) bolt ad remove it.
*Lift the box off the exposed screw and then pull back twards the trunk.
*Box should come off in your hands leaving 2 more gold bolts in the fenderwell on rubber washers

you should really check out mazda6tech, they have an injen CAI installation guide ther which explains how to remove the resonator

Just finished removing my resonator today,...I feel an even greater increase than just doing the airbox modification. Yet now I noticed that my transmission jumps because it's not used to having the restrictions removed..Is this normal?
