Air Ride Suspension : is it worth it?

I have seen a few members here that has air ride system with
a remote control.

I am willing to spend 1000$ for the kit but is it worth it?
I heard a lot of people having problems about leaking and changing
the tank all the time.

Is it just for shows ?

How would you rate the installation for this.....hard, easy?

Also, where could I find such kits or what would you recommend...

Thanks,
Jeff

I'm not an expert on Air Ride, but I do have somewhat of an understading on it. $1000 is not going to get you a whole lot, or at least good quality equipment. As long as it is installed correctly, then there should be no leaking. When the kits are first installed, or even after being on for a while, its a good idea to periodically leave the car raised overnight to see if there is any leaking. If there is, then they can be found, fixed, and forgotten. I don't see why anyone would have to change the tank, the only purpose it serves is to hold air coming from the compressor which is then released into the air bags themselves. Its not really just for shows, but its sooo much fun to show off with sometimes. I'd imagine the installation would be fairly difficult as there are no kits for the P5 that I am aware of, which means quite a bit of fabricating. HTH

they do have a couple kits for the P5 -- i was too considering air -- but haven't decided yet --- there is a shop here where i live and they said $3000 for complete F/B/S/S set up with bags -- not cylinders -- and they guarantee no leaks and warrenty the work as well --

im going air. if you can change your springs and wire a stereo yourself then you can install the kit yourself in and afternoon. the air lift co sells a complete kit for about 2gs. I may be able to get it a little cheaper if you are serious. probably around 1800 or so. I know one of the guys up there

Thanks...but I'm a little short in funds if your talking about 1800.
I will get back to you when I get it.

Who in this board has air ride, if so, how does it ride?

Thanks

A decent kit is probably $1,400 minimum. That's if you install it yourself. I had one quoted, and it would have been nearly $3,000 for install(which gaurantees full replacement on faulty parts) and upper-end equipment, not entry level.

I would expect to pay decent $$$ to get decent quality. My kit ran me around 2 grand USD. The Dakota Digital air ride controller was around $1200USD with the remote control option

Air Lift is the way to go. My car is in the shop right now getting bagged and there kit is awesome. I paid alittle over 2300$ for the kit with 10 switches, all 1/2 inch fittings, 5 pound bottle, 1 compressor. A shop is doing the install for 450$. I have no experience with it, but it deffintly make the car look good. Good luck.
