Air Freshener = Bad

So I get the brilliant idea () to take some little pieces of air freshener and stick them in my front air vents so it'll blow the "sweet breeze vanilla" in the cabin. Then I go to remove them and they've "melted" into the plastic! Now I have these little areas with whatever cotton-like material the freshners were made of in my air vents! I've tried Goo Gone, some have ass dirt remover, and soap but I still cannot get these "patches" off!

Do I have to replace the air vents or can someone recommend a good cleaner that will not damage plastic but yet get this crap off?

Good luck getting it off. I am really hoping you didn't use the "California" brand air fresheners. The ones with the 3 little squares of stuff in them. If you did, shame on you for not reading the can where it says DO NOT PLACE ON PLASTICS OR PAINTED SURFACES!
I don't think you are going to find anything that gets that stuff off your car. Some chemical in that thing actually melted part of your vent. Its not stuck to it, its melted in there. Trust me, my wife did the same thing to our truck thinking just like you did.
If by chance you find a way to clean it, let me know so I can fix my truck!

Your best bet would be to find a Pro sitting in a junkyard so you can rip them out of there. Other than that, the dealer is the only place I can think of, and I don't think the price would be very friendly.
