40 seems a bit high, cause u gotta remember you need strut clearance too. I think +32 would look great.

+1i'm not a big fan of the poke. I'd go 17x8.
I am certain on a non-slammed car that actually has to be able to turn and safely drive on the freeway without ripping your fenders out when you hit a bump with 2 degrees camber in the rear a whatever" x 8.5" with a 35 offset will be the limit.
If you don't mind chewing through tires I'm sure more camber could be run to accommodate a lower offset.
17x8 would be better IMO unless u want to do somework it seems. I have 17x8's and have still yet to roll my fenders and they rub sligtly on turns, majorly when i have people in the back--which I never do for that reason. lol. I like my setup though. Front needs more lowering lol.
