Aftermarket Remote Starter

Hello everyone. I'm a proud new owner of an Electric Blue CX7 GT with Technology Package and Preferred Eqpt. I didn't get the Remote Start and Sirius add-on. I am not interested with the Sirius but would like to add the remote start. Should I opt for the OEM Mazda Remote Start or should I go with aftermarkets? I already had a quote for an aftermarket remote start with alarm for $400 from a Certified Mazda Installer.

Hey CXRabbit, thanks for the info. Yeah, I'm more inclined to get the OEM RemoteStart but the dealership quoted me a lot of money (around 700-800) to have it installed. So, would you recommend buying it from parts (I also saw one on Ebay for $250) and have a car audio installer do the installing?

$700-800 is highway robbery! LOL

I'd talk to an audio shop and ask how much they'd do it for. Try to deal with someone who has experience doing work for Mazda dealerships. I'm SURE you can get it cheaper than $700-800. And yeah, buy it from the part department (or your ebay source if it's reliable).

My audio guy didn't charge anything to install it but that's because I had worked out a deal with the dealership to pay for it as part of the price of my car. I KNOW I didn't pay anywhere near $700-800 for it.
