AFR question

on my dashhawk i mainly see mid 14s and sometimes high 14s while cruise and sometimes almost half throttle. I do see high 13s but its not often. Is this normal? Even at wot i only see high 13s. I don't want to go zoom zoom BOOOM!
 
That sounds too lean in the higher rpms..You should be around 11 to low 12s.Any other mods that are not in your sig?I would not go WOT running that lean too much.
 
14s at idle, out of boost and cruising is normal and perfect. if you are only seeing 13:1 at full boost and full throttle i would say either the dash hawk is out of adjustment or something is seriously wrong. without tuning you should never be that lean in boost.
 
damm i better double check. I'm going to do some short sprints and log whats my AFR is when i'm in certain amount of boost. Well i still get soot in my exhaust so i guess i'm still rich hopefully nothing is wrong and i don't go boom.

ok i just check my dh logs and all is good. AFR was 10.3 at 4762rpms. So i guess i must have missed it. Its hard to watch the gauges and road haha.

Now if you could get your AFRs between your first post #s and these #s it would be perfect.I think ideal and safe #s are in the 11s.You are where you should be with a stock tune now tho..
 
ok, for those of us who do not have digital guages, meaning the needle type afr guage or the led type. What are these numbers you are takling about? 14, 13, 12, 11???? If you have a needle styled guage, how do you know what is the best for runnign to show you are not leaking boost from your bov? If driving at normal on the freeway at 2-3 lines in rich is that bad? All this number stuff is confusing me but I assume it refers to the same thing as the bars on the needle style guage
 
if you are using a wire in 'air/fuel' gauge you are only using the 1v factory sensor which reads lean or rich and nothing more than that. a wideband sensor and gauge reads from a 5v range and can pinpoint your exact air to fuel ratio in terms of a numerical reading. 14.7 to 1 is considered "stoichiometric" or normal for most operating conditions. a smaller number such 12, 11 or 10 to 1 is richer and a larger number indicates leaner.

with the needle guage can you tell when your bov is leaking by looking at where the needle is based on what it should be from the factory? I was wondering this because I bought an aftermarket bov and dont want to sacrifice mopg or hurt the turbo if I dont have it adjusted right. In that case, what should I see in the way or normal afr when driving? I also have a boost/vac guage, so maybe you know what the normal driving vac pressure is too. Sorry to thread jack, but this is definately an AFR Question.
