AFC Version II on its way...

So has the AFCII been finalized? I keep reading about a group buy thats supposed to happen, but i'm not seeing anywhere what the actual final specs are.

Also, what happened to the list of Used AFC I's that were going to be available?

From what I have been able to read so far, the AFC II will be just like the AFC I, only it will include the ability to add more features in the future.

Ok final production versions are now ready. The AFC II will offer the additional logging features as mentioned in my original post, I will have final GB pricing(which will be within the price range listed on the first page) listed on the GB WHICH WILL BE LISTED WEDNESDAY EVENING. IN addition due to recent interest in a "safeguard" type feature built into the afc, we will also consider offering a FTC type controller if the demand is high enough. Basically this will combine the features of our AFC II with the added safety of timing retard for those of you running higher boosts at a significantly lower cost than the J&S safeguard and afc combo. We do have a working version of this ftc, but in order for us to be able to economically produce it I would have to have atleast 10 people interested in the unit(pricing for this will more than likely be between 450-500).

So to sum it up:
*AFC II GB will be posted Wednesday night at the lastest. The final version will include all the logging features as previous noted(you will still need a wideband controller to output to the afc logging channels) and the price will be within the originally established range), however spots will be limited to 20max/15min.

*AFC Is will be back instock in about 3wks at the normal $325 price.

*We will consider offering an ftc type controller if we have enough interest

If you have any questions please let me know. However, due to the volume of "what is the the afc version II" questions I've been getting please do me a favor and read the entire thread before asking me a question. I enjoy answering questions, but have found I am wasting a lot of time answering emails from people who are too lazy to do a quick search. THe more time I waste doing that means the less time I have to improve the AFC.

Thanks for the update!

You can mark down 1 person that wants the added benefit of timing retard. That would make running 440cc injectors much safer and feasable at the 14psi range.

Can't wait to see if this is possible!

I will be on the list for V2, I need to sell my V1 ASAP, have contacted several "despirate" buyers with no luck. That is why I was asking about the add on modules to V1 for datalogging, but no response for that either.

hehe yes please be sure to read ALL the posts before posting...GB is up and running as indicated in my post 5 levels up...

Everyone keeps mentioning timing control, what is it though? Is it really necessary if we're not running over 10psi boost and doing nothing more than bolt on's? how is timing and fuel control different than simple fuel control?

MY personal opinion is that timing makes very little difference at 10psi and under...in our limited testing on dynos we showed little to no actual gain between adjusting timing and fuel vs. just fuel...now for built motors and higher boost timing control is a must...between 10-15psi most mspers seem to like to pull timing back a tad at higher rpms which is a good idea...you lose a little power, but gain back a little safety cushion...

Ok and for the significance of the wideband O2 logging feature, how will this benefit tuning? I'm just wondering what the advantage is over getting the Version 1 besides the simble ability to log.

Great MSP tuning tips....email me about V1 questions.

Although I have heard in the past that the AEM wideband gauge will not data log, I was looking at the www.aempower.com and the site states that the AEM wideband has a

- "User-programmable 0-5v analog output included for use with data loggers and ANY engine management system"

and

- "Serial data stream included for output of AFR (RS 232)"

So would the AEM wideband gauge work with the AFC v2 to datalog a/f ratios???
