aem or injen hurry please

Again, just a rookie-but I'm gessing they are ref. to HP not WHP...anyway...I really appreciate everyones opinion and suggests, but seems like it boils down to what YOU like. That said I'm goin going w/ AEM, and also Borla catback. Ordering from ptuning....couple of questions...how do we use our discount? does anyone know of a good shop to install the exhaust in Miami? And do you guys think that 12-15whp & 10-12lb ft tq are realistic numbers from both these mods together???

not to kick anyone but aem also said that the 2.3 6 gained 12WHP from the short ram I have in the closet. The shor ram only gave those gains if you beat the car with cold engine. once the car warmed up you lost all gains along wit stock hp. I couldn't pull nto moving traffic for s*** till I fabricated a piece to convert to cai. The comon trick being done is dynoing the cars on cold engines when sensors are on a initial loop. if your friend from other forum was there then maybe he can say yes the car was warm and this was the general range on multiple runs. I'd beleve your friend before aem ;) the gains can also be accounted for cause ov vtcs, vilm, vad and the restriction of stock airbox.

Well thats what short rams do, especially on an automatic. Besides you should always warm a car before the dyno, but it should not get it to the point were it is really hot under there. Dynoing most cars cold like the Mazda3 will only show a 1 - 2hp difference than when it is warmed up, so i still don't see what you are trying to say! And I could not understand that last part that much...but if they gains is from that then it is from the CAI!

I'm saying that the gain was magnified from ditching stock air box. Mazda made the airboxes for the 6 30% efficent under vvt. with restriction gone that charge of air when vtcs disengages and vilm takes place you can feel and hear the difrence. I gues I was getting a lil tired in my last post just wanted to clarify I wasn't posting under the influence ;)

Aem V2

Anybody know if AEM is working on a V2 version of their CAI for the 2.3l?

I checked their site and found no info.... Prolly send an email. (jerkit)

Ok guys, just got my AEM CAI today. Gonna try (key word) to install it tonight or tomm. Any advice before doing so, things to look out for, what NOT to do, what TO do, etc.....lemme know!

PS-I'm not really sure how to do this, so I cant promise-but if it all works out does anyone want to make a request for pics, details, check something out while I'm in there? Ask now or never!

yes it did, and they seem ok, but I just hear so many horror stories on installs that I wanted to see if there was anything I should do besides follow the instructions carefully.

I did mine under streetlight but yeah just read over thew instructions...better yet take them with you when you install it...pill negative(Black) cable before you start and re connect it after you finnish.

Aem Installed

Guys, I did it!!!!!! Its awesome! Sounds great, feels great! Thanks to everyone for their support! Here's some pics.

PS-Da6, the instructins were fine, and it was as simple as you made it sound-thanks!

Any pics available showing the air filter inside the wheel well?
I would like to know the height at which the air filter is located from the ground (AEM vs. Injen).
From what I've seen so far, the air filter on the Injen CAI goes upward in the wheel well, and AEM goes right down.
Anybody could confirm this and/or post pics?
Thanks!

I'll try and get a pic of the filter, but its a b-atch to get to it so give me some. As for the filter direction, its lateral. In other words it points left to right not up or down (the head of the filter points towards the outside of the car). Also, it sits roughly about 3-4 inches above the splash guard.

Hope this helps!

um.....depends if you have automatic. AEM=not autotranny friendly
