AEM dyno

Speaking of this has anyone actually shelled out the almost $500 AEM wants for the MSP Typhoon intake? Just curious haven't heard anyone say anything about it. You would just hope considering they are asking nearly twice as much as an Injen intake that it would really deliver. Or at least go pick ya up a Pizza.

Right you are. Sorry, guess I working throught the night is bad. Yup, that's what I meant anyone have experience with the K&N Typhoon?

Binary hit the nail on the head also. :D We will see what an SRI with an IC will do next week.

Yeah, you need someone truly independent to give you the news. Not some company trying to push the product. Don't get me wrong, there are some legit companies out there that will give you the truth but they're mostly small tuning facilities.

I woudl not trust magazines either. They advertise for the big fish.......w/out them they are nothing

I want to see this also. Be sure to post the chart. I know an SRI makes more power on my RX than a CAI.

i was the guy who prototyped the Typhoon.....

it will not be released due to limited demand, the system would be arround $600 for MSP. it was not profitable for K&N to make it.

there is only one typhoon CAI outhere :D
it hasnt been dynoed yet.

sigh... I'm just waiting for corksport's intake, it should work really well with that duct thing that comes with it.. if it EVER comes out

Well I can understand the limited demand due to the price. Since you have had first hand knowledge could you explain why it was so much more expensive than Injen's?

*Hopes he's right b/c funny is pondering what kind of intake to get in the spring w/ the tax return! :D*

There was a thread on this. Someone just put a conical filter on the mass air, and although it sounded cool...it lost HP on a dyno.

The stock box draws cold air but the paper filter must go.
;)

mu ch more R&D is put into typhoon systems.
if u remember (if u were on these boards when it happened) SpicyMSP prototyped her car for Injen. they gave her an intake after 3 days of testing, and CAI was on the market after 2 weeks.
it had a huge flaw in the design, the car would stall every time u shifted.

K&N had my car for a week, they worked on the intake for 4 months untuill MY intake was done, i'm not talking about released on the market. that was gonna take another month.

material they used was thicker, and coated with some heat resitant crap. plus K&N filters are larger than Injen, and more free flowing.
it was also a dual system, CAI and SRI.

i currently have an Injen on my car.
I recieved the K&N 2 days after i crashed my Orange MSP. back then i didnt know if i was going to get another MSP so i gave the typhoon to my friend.
he still has it on his car........i drove it, it feels stronger than injen.

Aha, that makes sense. The reason I asked was because the pics I have seen of the Typhoon look like a better designed piece and I had thought about replacing my Injen with it if the price had come down a couple hundred bucks. Too bad the MSP version won't ever be released. Your friend sounds like he or she got a great deal.
