hey everyone. newbie on the forums here. im about to start investing in my ride a bit more. any advice on brands or even specific parts? im ordering an intake soon and eventually want to throw in as many mods as possible; anything that i can do to the exhaust, suspension, and engine are in the playing field. thanks.

protegegarage.com is where most of the quality parts are at
corksport makes a great sounding exhaust, injen is the most pop. Cold Air INtake, and im going to say tein s. tech springs and tokico struts are the most pop. suspension setup
or coilovers but those are expensive and unnecessary for a street car

and they sell all of those parts at the website i gave u

Welcome to the forum, and glad to hear you are planning on modding your P5. The search function is your friend in this case, as there are many who have come along with many of the very same questions. Intake, Header, Exhaust (cat-back) combo are all easy mods, as well as a short throw shifter (assuming you're a 5spd). Motor mounts are a must if you drive the car hard. Good luck with the modding!

My favorite mod has been the Tokico Illumina Struts and Tien S-Tech springs, by far, but I do love the sound of my magnaflow cat back exhaust, but short of a turbo, engine mods don't do much for this car until you start getting into big $.

If I could start all over again on my car, this is the order I would do it.
1. Tokico/Tien suspension or full coilovers
2. Kartboy Short Shifter and polyurethane bushings
3. AWR 21mm rear sway bar w/ adjustable endlinks.
4. Cold Air Intake (the ones on Ebay for $30 work EXACTLY as well as the $300 Injen) and a good filter
5. A nice radio, I usually recommend Alpine all the way around
6. Some pretty wheels with good sticky tires
7+. Exhaust, engine mods, etc.

I had an AEM intake on my saturn SC2, and an ebay intake on my p5, and i hardly see any difference. i mean you can tell its cheaper, but it sounds as good as the AEM and as long as you put on a decent filter its good to go

After some searching - tell us your budget and your plan. We can help guide you (avoid conflicting mods or worthless ones...).

no, dont tell him that! lets try and get him to try the risky things no one else has done before.

i hear using the drivetrain/motor from the FC rx-7 is cheap and easy!

haha well im broke as a joke for the time being. just got fired for being late once. thats a major b****. but once i get a steady job i'll probably still only be looking at 200 every two weeks tops. sucks being in high school.

Just save your money then. The return on modding these cars just isn't worth it if that's all you have. You're better off saving a lot first.

oh. and i know jack s*** about cars, so im clay for the molding. chances are you guys know how to make my car go faster than i do, so have at it.

tell me about,im 21 and i work 50+ hour weeks just make the payments on the car. i have no money to put into the car. once i get money tho,I'm def. doing a mazdaspeed setup on it. (eekdance)

First - save money for scheduled maintenance and some for 'unscheduled' maintenance. So you have a new lip/splitter and wheels - and it sits because you have no money for an alternator or battery....(cool)

Free/cheap mods: (oh yeah! Get to work on time!! Slacker! You have a baby to support now! ;) )

*Wire fogs on with parking lights
*Wire sunroof to open/close w/o key
*Clean/wax her! Claybar her if the paint is kinda' cloudy...
*Remove the black vinyls on the door pillars
*Remove side moldings
*If the wheels look crummy - clean/fix/paint them
*Remove and paint the inside of the headlight assy.s
*Lightly tint the yellow side marker lens. (I used flat black paint and it looks good (IMHO))

Since you can't afford lowering springs/struts - get three fat friends!!(evil)
