Mazda 2 2011 Touring
Added the added protection plan to my mazda 2 back in 2010 when we bought it. It was involved in a fender bender. the body shop called me to ask me if I had gotten the Added protection plan, which I replied yes I did. They said I better come down there and come take a look at this added so called Protection Plan that was applied.....I was in shock. At what I saw. I called my dealer told them about it. They said to me : " Oh yeah around that time we had an issue with the application gun." I said " You didn't think to call me to tell me you guys might need to re do it?" They replied : " We weren't sure when the gun wasn't working properly and we had done way to many cars...."

A lot of words come to mind after reading this.

Mazda Gabriel in Montreal,Quebec... Ohhh it's been a headache since August 10th 2010...The day of the purchase....On a plus side I walked away with all the upgrades free to the car entertainment system(Back up camera, Sub-woofer, Blu Tooth, 6 speakers, GPS and Ipod cable) plus a few extras....The actually charged me for the spoiler that came with the car....And charged me a few other things that came with the GS (touring) They screwed up on the Mazda Skin...All in all this car took 6 months to finish...And has been in and out of the dealer....

I had rust issues the day I brought the car home new and looked under it. Im not happy about the rust but I spent my own $$$ and bought some rubberized undercoating and did it myself.

Fam very good point....I haven't looked under the car yet....I should do that....

I also should add that when I did get the winter rims and tires I did get a rather good deal under 1000$ plus free hub caps and free storage for the first year...Down fall was when i brought the car in to have the winter tires installed the dumb asses forgot to have them brought in.... And also try to tell me they had to do the 19000km check up on the car...I was like It's got less then 14000 km...Just change my oil and do the basic 2 year maintenance plan i paid for (3 oil changes a year)...When it hits 19000 km's you can do the work then.

Love your Blog.....:) Love what you've done to your 2

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. I'll be updating with a bunch of new stuff soon.

Any idea where I can get custom mags made in Spirit green? :)

By mags you mean wheels?

The protection plan was against rust? Pretty sure most new cars have a life time guarantee on rusting anyway. I know mine came free.

Most cars have a paint protection warranty, but it's only for specified circumstances. Living in extreme conditions "lots of snow/salt/" = voided warranty. That's how the dealer explained it to me anyways.

Yeah this "Added Protection" was for the rust. Living in Quebec with all the salt and not to mention falling concrete (Joke) Plus the car goes from one heated garage to another on most occasion in the winter. So we figured after he told us about this product which only needs to be applied once unlike the oil kind. I was told they insert this gun into the holes and it's suppose to coat the inner surface with this "beige type wax". So after dishing out 500$ for this only to find little squirts here and there I was rather upset. The unfortunate part is, I have no way of knowing if the second time around it was applied evenly. A woman asked on another forum for Mazda Canada this exact question. "How Do I know it was applied?" I posted pictures of mine and replied You don't know. Which Mazda replied with. "She wants to see pictures of it after it was applied." I said those are pictures after it was applied. No further comment from Mazda Canada...LOL

I'm from MI so we get plenty of salt and snow here too. hmmm. What's up with Mazda making great cars but having such bad service at the dealers.

It's really Improper training on the knowledge on the Mazda 2. It's rather sad. Also lack of caring. I feel for all those other people who dished out 500$ and have no idea of what was done. I was at least unlucky to have had a moving truck hit the side to see the improper application. My dealer service department is a real dud. When ever an issue arise with my Mazda 2...They have to call a specialist in. Leading to multiple appointments that could span a month. When ever they see "The Hulk" pull in they all run and hide. It's been a run around for the past month on the bushing problem. They don't want to replace it. They lost big $$$ on my Mazda 2 from day one it was released in Canada, having been the first one sold at my dealer. B-08 car stock number. I have made it very clear to them that I will no-longer stand for Multiple appointments. I said you all know my car for over 1 year. If it's a radio issue call the radio guy in. If it's a heated seat issue call that guy in...I swear that car has spent 2 months time in a year in the dealers garage.

Shortly after getting my 2 home, I applied a bunch of 3M paint protection film to places I knew would be prone to rusting (such as the seam between the rear quarter panel and bumper) and Plasti-Dipped the hell out of the rear wheel wells and floorpan. That dealer-installed stuff is a joke.

Do you guys get the emails from Mazda asking you to complete their survey? I've done 2 so far and you can complain all you want on there about whatever you choose. They break it down into sections, too. There's always a part for your dealer experience at the end. I can't even answer fairly because I have never really been back to the dealer since I got my car, besides going in and asking questions! Just a suggestion. :)
