Acura TSX vs. Mazda 6 (V6)

What do you think the 3.0L is? Its a duratec aswell.


For 1/4 mile debate, you guys have to keep in mind there is usualy up to a 1/2 second varioence from magazine to magazine. Hell on the STi car and driver tested it to 13.2 seconds. However in the back under there reviewed cars perfomance lists, they have it at 13.6.


As for handlings, I test drove a TSX and Mazda 6s on the same day and I did not notice one being superior. As others have said, the TSX is definitly a more luxury ride but it can get into the corners. THe 6 has more road feel but I didn't think it superior through high speed turns.

Like any acura the nice thing is that the TSX comes fully loaded. THe only options are exterior and Navigation. THe resale value of an acura is untouchable. I believe the Integra is still one of the best resale value cars of all times. Hell 96 Integra Ls are still above $13K depending on milage. They lost less then $8K in value in 8 years!!

Stlyling wise, the TSX is a great look car without the body kist but the kit makes it alot better. I find the Mazda 6 just boring without the sports pakcage body moldings.

That's it, that's all it takes. I am convinced. I am going to get the TSX. And DA6. The Mazda 3 I got for now isnt forever so I couldnt care if it were a Ford block or a s*** block. Your knoledge on the engines is actually pretty helpful. I've learned a lot from you since I've been on these forums.

I assume you have IAT readings to back this up? Or are you just doing the old "I'm touching it and its hot, so its gotta be hot".

Plastic acts as an insulator, protecting the aircharge from the hot engine bay. On the mazda 6, numerous tests have been done on the stock airbox, with air intake temp readings from scanners (not hands), through various mods and intakes, to see how the air temp was effected when certain actions were done. (Like gutting the airbox).

People who switch to methods which use shorter pipes drawing air in from the SAME area as the stock airbox, but alumnium instead of plastic, have reported massive increases in temperature. The plastic stock air intake system IS protecting the air charge from heat, as proven through temp readings.

If plastic pipes were so great, no one would get hardpipes. Check out the MSP forum & you will find tons of threads about how much the plastic pipes suck.

right, after you ad all the options you want the price is rediculously high, Nissans depreciate ridiculously fast and my theory about the TL just a lil below applies to the Maxima too. And over all, the car is but ugly. The look and feel is soo cheap and the interior refinement, oh wait, there is none.

A 1996 LS is about $6,000 or less depending on condition.

Well, I test drove a Mazda 6 V6 5 spd manual today, loaded car, exactly the way we want it. I must say that I was impressed, the thing handles pretty sweet took it pretty fast on some turns and even on the highway. It was really fun. Now I got to go test drive the Acura TSX on Wednesday.

I'd vote for the 6 too. Better value, more fun. But what do I know - I'm quite biased.

Oh - and the TL - ugh. Looks nice enough, but drives and handles like a boat, To put those 270 horses to the front wheel, they had two choices - leave the torque steer at levels that could wrest the wheel away from an average-strength adult driver, or deaden the front steering feel altogether. Guess which one they picked? I do love the Bluetooth and the light cluster, as well as the DVD-Audio and navigation systems. But those are goodies that are not needed to enjoy a car.

With the TSX, be sure to try quick lane changes or abrupt turning maneuvers (sic?) after/during sudden deceleration. The one I test drove extensively did not feel half as stable as a 6 (i or s) when I tried those in it. The salesman hated me by the end of the test drive. And looked at me funyn when I mentioned I wouldn't be back and now finally knew exactly what I wanted to buy Of course, the Audi A4 1.8T Quattro was higher on my list than the TSX, but I wasn't too keen about the lost power (Quattro). And before you say 'chip' - I won't consider such a major engine mod until after the warranty runs out - on any new car.

The one thing I can't get over on the TL, is that horrible Saturn ION slash on the side.

Whoever did that needs to be punched a few times, then hit with a few anvils. Car looks great from the front, decent from the rear, and stupid from the side.

IMO the TSX > TL in the looks department.

I went to Acura today, and my mind is made up, I am going with a loaded sport GT V6 manual tranny. I never got to test drive the TSX. But I didnt want to, just sitting in it was ehough to throw me off. I didnt like the feel. And the dealership was really unprofessional, the service is horrible. Mazdaaaaaa all the way zoom zoom!!

No kidding, lol. Anyway, I loved the 6 test drive, I felt extremely confident driving it. It rocks, the engine is surprisingly smooth. It handles like a race car, ok maybe not like a race car but close enough to one. My test drive was very long and got to take it on the highway, corners everything, before coming to a nice tight turn, I downshift from 5 th to 2 nd , and floored the gas (DONT WORRY, I KNOW WHAT I AM DOING). and the car took the turn like it werent even there. So, it's going to be a Mazda 6 sport GT V6 loaded w/manual tranny. (first)

Great! But really - try the TSX - don't hold any regrets! It drives nice, but just not as good or solid as a 6. Go and feel it for yourself. And relaly - if you find - for some weird, unexpected reason - that it suits you more - its important to buy the right car for yourself, not for your 'friends on an internet forum'

Of course, if that crappy Acura dealer (are they all that stuck-up and disorganized?) is your only local choice, and the interior didn't feel right (that's surprising - even I concede the interior quality of the TSX at least matches, if not more, that of the 6!) - then more power to you.

The TSX is a medium sized car, and from the drivers seat, it feels like a boat, not what I am in for. I feel safer in the 6 and up close the interior of the TSX does not please me that much, I somehow find all modern luxury cars of today very cheap. I drove an Audi A8 2004 today and even a car with that price tag, I found very cheap in quality. the car rides like s*** too. They shouldnt put such a big engine in that monster. The V6 mazda 6 loaded, I find it perfect for me. The test drive was awesome, the engine extremely smooth and the rigidity of the car, extremely impressive. I think I was sold on the spot as soon as I sat in the Drivers seat. It's a pretty big car for it's class, EXTREMELY roomy inside. But when you drive it, it feels like you are driving a Mazda 3 in size but with better performance, so you feel a lot more confident when you drive. That is what sold me. My dealer, his name was Freddy, was extremely nice and was very well received over there. In fact every Mazda dealership treated me well. As for Acura, I have a choice of other dealerships but there are soo many here that treat there clients like s***, I dont even want to know anything about Acura anymore, I never had that great service whatever it was for that I went. Thank you all for your input, you guys are all awesome on these forums.

the 6i is nowhere near slow as **** but think what you like and I will tear your tsx up on the autocross track

Mine was slow on the test drive, after I put a 1000km's on her though she pepped right up.
