ABS light and HANDBRAKE light on randomly

Hey guys, i've been having some funky issues with my ABS and HANDBRAKE light coming on. It's been intermittent though and it affects my Avic D3 gps and movie watching bypass.

So here i am, in Myrtle Beach on vacation and this starts to happen. It's been really intermittent though. When i start up the car, the ABS light and HANDBRAKE light come on, but only sometimes. My Avic D3 screen comes on and it says that the handbrake connection isn't there, so as i drive, i can't change my gps route nor can i watch a movie. Anyway that's just secondary.

Sometimes when i start the car, both the ABS light and handbrake light are on. I roll a bit, turn off the car, turn it back on, and both lights are no longer there.

I checked my brake fluid and everything seems just fine. My Handbrake works great. It's really odd.

The fact that it's affecting my headunit leads me to believe that it's a loose connection somewhere, but where is the question.

Any help please?

thanks

Have you recently pulled the handbrake harder than normal? I did that once on my Integra and it caused the light to come on intermittently. When you get back you might want to take apart the center console and check all the connections around the handbrake. As far as the ABS light it might be interconnected with the handbrake, but I'm not positive. Good luck!

it's very very odd.

I'll start the car normally, with the handbrake on and the car in neutral. The light comes on. i turn off the car and turn it on right away and the lights are off and gone.

Today im gonna start the car with the handbrake already off and see if that changes everything.

exact same thing happened to me on the drive from CA to WA...Stopped at auto zone, picked up some brake fluid and topped off the resivoir..SP? Havent seen it since

I have this exact same problem. Usually when my brake fluid is low, just the e-brake light would come on. As with delguini, in this case both my ABS and e-brake lights are on. I'll get some brake fluid and see what happens...

thing is my brake fluid is full.

I'll check again in the morning, but im almost positive it's full.

it's really odd, when both lights are on and i turn the car off then on again immediately, the lights go off.

Mine didn't look low either but I filled it higher anyway. Maybe your pads are getting low. I don't have ABS so I didn't get the ABS light. Heh.

My ABS light always comes on when I start it up but as soon as she starts it goes out. Same with the airbag/seatbelt, and handbrake light which is normal because the cars doing a bulb check. Have you had any work done lately?

Generally when your abs and handbrake light come on and stay on, it's usually one of the following:

1: Low brake fluid level
2: Brake pad wear
3: Ceased caliper or leak
4: Emergency brake stuck on or cable connection
5: ABS Sensor on the blink or loose ie bad connection which could happen by doing anything around the wheel.
