ABS Actuator

Hi Folks,

According to the place where we just brought our Mazda 5, our car needs a new "ABS Actuator". We brought it in thinking they need bleeding or maybe a master cylinder because the pedal seemed to traveling more than usual.

Has anyone else had this problem and is it common to this car?
If they disable the ABS Actuator, will the brakes still work?

The shop wants $550 for the part and $287 for labor. Does that sound about right?

Between this and the sorry suspension in this car, I seem to be dropping a lot of $$$ into it at only 95,000 miles.

Thanks
Greg

I've had this issue a couple times with the 3s... 5 is pretty much the same thing.

No way to fix the problem without replacing the part. Try using a used part from a salvage yard. I've havve good luck with these
