About to buy a 2006 MS6.

I am about to buy a MS6 and the only thing that concerns me is everyones talk about the reliability, it seems hit or miss people having no problems or someone with a blown turbo. I was just wondering how much maintenance fees people have been, tires etc. Besides that factor im sold, should I worry to much?

it seems to vary.

i do my own oil changes, about to do my brakes for the first time, gonna need a new clutch soon, and have replaced the tires once...i'm at 33k.

hasn't been too bad for me.

A lot of it will depend on your driving habits. I was a little hard on my first set of summer tires, so that will end up costing me. If you want to launch at every stoplight, you may want to look into beefier mounts, and may end up replacing some of the weaker drivetrain parts. If you like to mod heavily, you could be putting the turbo at risk (really if you're just doing a few light bolt-ons, or if you do things properly I wouldn't worry).

It really isn't much worse than any other car, maintenance-wise, unless you want to make it so.

Thats good to hear, I have herd mix rumors about the reliability of the car, but this forum makes it sound like there just the needle in the haystack. Thanks for all your info.

thats the thing about forums. for the most part you hear people complaining because they are on here looking for advice and help. the people that have no problems have no reason to come on here and post that everything is great.

Yeah, there are a ton of Speed 6'es out there that have had no problems, because they haven't had anyone trying to jam a ginormous turbo in or chirp all 4 tires regularly.

I'm sure if you went to a Toyota Camry forum there would also be horror stories, many based around aftermarket mods, and some just normal problems. Not enough people post to say "My car's great, everything's fine!" ;)

It comes down to what you want to do with this car. Don't expect 600+hp and daily driving. If you want a spirited car that you can get some nice numbers and be quick, stable handling, and a smile on your face, it's a great car.

The fit and finish on this car is one of the reasons for my purchase. The car feels well-built. The interior is one of my favorite things about this car. I've never been so happy with cloth seats. The stereo sounds a lot better than the MS3 and definitely sounds better than the Harmon Kardon system that was in my BMW 330i.

The only dislike I have for this car has been the shifting from first to second and sometimes second to third. You can add a cheap rear engine mount (mine's on the way) to help alleviate this problem.

Hope this helps!

Just curious lol

But have you purchased the MS6 you were looking at yet? Not to seem absurd, but I sooooo desperately need to get rid of my car I would be willing to do a half way meet and greet somewhere in Illinois to show/sell you mine. If you've already purchased, tough luck for me, if you haven't send me a PM.

Here is my official thread on here with a link to my craigslist ad on the car.

Thanks and have a great day. Any help is much appreciated.

Damn it, I just realized that Shocktroop isn't the one from Missouri lol. Anyways, Shocktroop, if you are within like....400 miles or so of Milwaukee, WI and haven't purchased yet, let me know. Thanks again.
