About ME....

Ok....first time changing the oil and I cant find the frickin oil filter. Its a cartridge so Im guessin its on top somewhere...ugh, Help! Its kinda sad that I cant find it. When I bought it the dealer said they did the service but theres no sticker in the window and judging by the hidden filter, they probably didnt change that....hmmm what else...:)

It's under the plastic splash shield. It's the big black octagon in the front of the motor. It's best to use a special filter that is shaped like the housing. You can get them at autozone or advance auto for like 5 bucks. It's kind of a b**** to get the splash shield off and some bolts might break so don't worry about that too much. I have replaced mine with different u-clips.

haha yea it was a b****, I finally figured it out. The clips were already broked so I didnt put them back in, but I did use aniseeze putting the bolts back in the panel..It was a dead weekend with everyone at LR haha.....Next question, what color is the antifreeze sopose to be? Its really dark and I was told some new cars come with purple or even black....environmental safe stuff..I was nervous cuz I figured it would be yellow, red, pink, anything but dark. I made an appointment for a complete flush cuz im a wuss and wont cut my heater hose. But if its sopose to be dark, Ill wait till right before winter and atleast check it. I mean the car only has 20k on it, I doubt it needs it, just weirded out by the dark antifreeze..any input?

Ummm... My coolant in the MS6 is good until 100k. I'm not sure what someone is trying to sell you, but the MS3 may be different. However, the platform between the MS6 and MS3 engine are relatively the same though. The new style of coolant is obviously a different type than the old school stuff, but you can find what you need in your store.

As far as anti-seize stuff goes... We tend to use a copper or graphite based stuff in the Navy and the color is the same depending if it's copper or graphite. It all depends on what it the application is, but they both work well.

Yeah my antifreeze is gold... Weird yours is so dark. Any smoke? Oil wasn't milky when you changed it right?

Nope, just black. I dont think the dealer did the service. So im glad I changed it, but I was curious on the antifreeze too. No smoke, nothing. Weird.

They werent trying to sell, I wanted it done because Ive never seen coolant so dark, ya know? Cars only got 20k on it, I wouldnt think it needs to be done either, but the dark is weird. I just used regular antiseeze, its all we had, haha better than nothing! Still not sure if I should have the service done. What color is your antifreeze?

OK so this is what I found out....There is a production date cut off for two different types of antifreeze, I wasnt sure of my pd at the time, BUT the spec says ethylene glycol base...spec is FL22 (I believe)....the two antifreezes, no matter the pd both pour green out of the bottle. I checked the antifreeze and Im good to -45 below...looks cleaner in the tester than in the puke tank. I guess Im good to go...Just plain ol green antifreeze. Weird huh? All this for nothing, but for future reference...

So, Install tomorrow....Cp-e turbo inlet pipe and the intake :) Washing and vacuumin her, then who knows. A nice ride perhaps. :)

Be careful with the vacuum lines at the boost control solenoid. The boost control solenoid is known to break if you breath on it.
