A Wopping $237.00 for a Protege5 Shift Knob???

I got a 2002 MP5 with the sort of chrome/plastic shift knob, and I wanted to upgrade it with the 2002.5/2003. But when I called the dealer to find out the cost and avalibility, I was shock!!!!

$237.00!!! Even the parts guy was shock!

I strongly believe that there's something wrong with the dealer list price on that knob.

To me that knob looks like the same knob I had in my Mustang GT, it kind says Ford when I look at it... And with Ford owing Mazda, it is quite possible that that is the case!

What do you guys think?

Waste of money - the new knob is all black rubber. I don't know, I think the 02 knob is far better looking and feeling than the new one. If you really NEED A new knob, just check out the local auto stores for one you like.

The 2002.5 Shift Knob is all leather wrapped. It's pretty nice, but not worth that.

Hey it is better than the $237 from the dealer and if you want the stock knob then what choices do you have. hmmmmmm go to dealer and get a knob and pay out the a$$ for it or buy it from me for $100 Shipped. Hey I was just trying to replace my knob and cover shipping costs. The knob I want from MOMO is $90 so I figured $10 for shipping and bam there's the $100.

And as for you hawkeye if you aren't willing to pay then shutup and let somebody else buy it. It is not like I am trying to rip somebody off here. My car is like 1 month old and I explained where I came up with the $100 amount.

I replaced my NEW 2002.5 shift knob with my MOMO knob from my old BMW.

I will let it go for $30 + shipping, depending on where you live...

(I need to offset the cost of the K&N drop-in filter)

temper, temper. You need to settle down. Just because what you're asking is less that what the dealer's asking doesn't mean you're not trying to rip anyone off. No matter how you slice it, anytime a loser stock knob is more than a Momo knob, something's wrong.

Besides, if $100 is such a great deal, what do you care if I say anything? You'll probably have people falling all over themselves at the "bargain" that you're offering.

The "New" shift knob for 2003 is just the exact same one that was used in the 1993-1997 MX-6. Just buy one of those. Better yet, buy mine!! I'm going to replace it with my Momo one as soon as I get around to it.

I saw one for sale on eBay for $15 plus $7 for shipping. It was one for a Mustang GT, not sure if it would fit though...
