a question about the badges

Hi everyone, i was just wondering about the badging in the back of the mp3s. I want to take off the mp3 badge and the mazda lettering, but im not sure if they are supported by holes or not. Can i just clear em, or will they leave unsightly holes in the back? And if they do leave holes, how could i get rid of em? Finally, has anyone done this or have any pictures of cleared out markers in the back? Im not sure how it would look, so i wanna get all the details before i get rid of em. THanks alot

Just curious are you planning on shaving all your body badging on the sides/back etc or is it just that one that you plan to remove?

the two on the side are stuck on, the back one leaves holes...if you do take off your rear badge, sell it on here, a few peeps are looking for one.

The sides ones have no holes, the back ones do, all three badges, I tried and put it back. I want to take those out too but have been clueless on how to get those holes covered without paying for body work and a paint job.....

yellowmp3owner, as the others have said....YES the back ones leave holes the side ones do not....they are on with doublesided tape.

to rid yourself of the unsightly holes you have a few options, take it to a body shop and have them bondo them up and repaint the decklid....OR you can have them welded up (in my opinion the most correct way to do it) and then have the deck lid repainted.

either way....its not a cheap move to get rid of the badges. I have seen at least ONE car with the back done as mentioned...it looks nice...if it weren't for the cost. I would shave the back of my P-5.

hi again, sorry for not replying, i havent been able to check this board for awhile. Anyway, i wanted to shave the back just because i thought that it would look clean, not because i was "embarrased" or anything. Well, if there are holes in the back, then screw it. Just to drop in my two cents on this discussion, if (in the future) someone decides to remove the MP3 logo plate on the back deck, don't try to fill the holes with body filler. Yes, it could be done but will sooner or later crater or pop out due to the shutting of the lid. Always mig weld any trim holes closed if you want the job to last.

There are holes under the badge. I took my mazda emblem off and added another mp3 emblem on the right side of the trunk. It looks tight. people always ask me what kind of car it is..Since it doesn't say mazda........I covered the hole with the new mp3 emblem.....the mp3 emblems have a sticky backing while the mazda emblem has holes.........

I've only ever seen one other MP3 in Orleans, looks exactly like mine (tinted windows and bug deflector).
