Hello hello everyone!
It's been a little while since I popped in on the boards. As some of you may or may not know, I graduated from UofI this May, and proceeded to go to Houston for an intense summer of teacher training. I taught some very cute and also pain-in-the-ass 4th graders. Quite the experience. However, once my training ended, I proudly moved down to New Orleans to join the Teach for America New Orleans Corps. So here I am, living in East Orleans, teaching 10th Grade English at Abramson High School. It has been an experience to say the least. The students are infuriating yet endearing, and I have to admit, despite all the crap and work that one must go through, I do honestly enjoy teaching.
My apartment is nice (i'm living alone), and the MSP is doing well. My students who have seen me driving it all tell me about how cool they think it is, and they want me to take them for a ride (which I don't - not a good legal idea). Really, the toughest part of moving down here has just been leaving a big circle of friends and family up in IL (of which I would include some members of this board). Anyways, I finally have my internet sorted out, and I look forward to feeling a little more connected to home and friends by popping in regularly again. It's nice to be back!
So.... what did I miss?
