A change in hardware

Why too bad? You think I should stay stock?

Oh talking of which here is todays Dyno reading after a few tanks of Premium fuel.

Old Dyno reading:
GTO - 2007-06-11.webp

New Dyno reading:
GTO - 2007-07-01.webp

I included the original (regular fuel) run for comparison.
This time we went all out and the car climbed to 140MPH in 16sec before we had to back off the gas or drive off the end of the track. These are still 100% stock numbers, I dread to think what number the Super Charger will make this thing do!

(headbang)

Oh and to the S2000 lovers thinking the S2000 (super charged or otherwise) stands a chance against my car (fu)... sorry it had to be said
As for that video, it was either staged or the GTO driver just dont have a clue how to race anything other than bumper cars.

Here is the reading of the Speed vs Time...

My Sponsors are:
Vertical Doors Inc. - rice
DEI: Cryo2 - i can see using CO2 in a forced induction car instead of nitrous to cool the intercooler because it's cheaper, the benefits on a N/A car with a cooler intake charge will be minimal
Tsunami Audio - not a fan of audio mods
DecalKits.com - not a fan of stickers

With the following sponsors pending my accepting their contracts:
KillerGlass - glowing radiator hoses? seriously?
GlowShift Gauges - makers of cheap crappy gauges. but they do light up pretty colors
StreetFX Lighting System - undercar neon i assume? ewww
BodyKits Etc - i looked at their site. luckily i hadn't eaten yet

stock no, i'm more of a fan of performance and those sponsors do nothing for me and i would rather have a simple, fast car than a showy, look at me car. i envision with sponsors that you'll have to do the extreme levels of each of their products so they're shown off so you'll have all kinds of colors and lights everywhere which will make an otherwise nice car hideous. see comments above

:D I appreciate your candid response, they are geared more towards the show car market, but when I looked at the performance mods I am like... how much faster do I need this car to go?

A car hitting 150MPH in under 20 seconds is by far fast enough for me. Not to mention to go forced with this engine I am looking at nearly $8,000, a far cry from the $2,000 I can do a Mazda engine for.

But do not worry too much, I have not decided how I will mod the car just yet; maybe a little cosmetic (body kit and lowering) and a little performance (CAI, Rotors, & Exhaust). I dont want to bastardise the car with extreme apperance and audio mods.

there's no such thing as fast enough :) you're only in 13s now, that's normal nowadays. and unlike the protege there are mods that add decent power on that engine without going forced induction, worth looking into.

if it were my car i would do intake, exhaust, headers, cam, maybe heads, maybe pulleys for performance (though i need to research those things more to make sure they're worth doing). you'll see some decent gains for not too much money. then appearance-wise i'd do wheels, tint and if i absolutely had to do some body mods i'd do some HSV parts. but different strokes for different folks

Excellent feedback, thank you! I guess there is no real limit to how fast you can try and get away from the police! - lol

I just figured that with my car getting to 60 in under 5 whilst being all stock (exc. the 19" wheels) that there was little more I need to do. If I start to compete then I want every horse I can squeeze out of this baby, but I don't think thats on the card this year.

Do continue to offer your feedback though, I do appreciate it!

OK, Help me out here...

(help)
Help me decide...

Should I paint the grille(s) black or leave them as they are, which is a kinda metalic silver.

or here is how the stock ones look

The question is, do I paint the new grille black or leave it silver?

Thnx guys, seems unanimous - I was thinking it looked a little odd hence posing the question.

Man that power band is real nice. Your GTO is coming along real nice. And yeah, black, lol.

Yeah it is - FEELS REAL NICE TOO, at times... read on... =o)

Yesterday we had a good downpour of rain, so the roads were slick and I came out of a side road onto the main two-lane road (Rt 202 in Augusta, ME for those that know the area) and the back end carried on across the road into the far (right hand) lane and tried racing the front of the car up the road.

Needless to say, my buddy loved it and wanted to go drifting the car around some industrial estate - not happening on these tires - far too poor to blow $400 for two new peices of rubber every other weekend.

lol had a friend who used to own a camaro ss back in 96 that worked at a dealership... he went through tires and steering pumps like most people go through a tank of gas... it was great!!!

man oh man did it rain like a mofo yesterday supposed to be the same tomorrow be careful and don't swing the back end into some old lady in a buick or something!

Yeah thats just about what I am expecting, whilst I was at tirerack I saw some winter rubber for the car and just laughed, if you don't end up in a ditch driving this car in the snow, you will just dig one out under the wheels.

I think I need to install a 6" rubber bumper all around the car, because this is going to get very interesting as my cojones grow bigger as I become more familiar with the car.
