A/C Blasts when key is turned off...

This has happened a lot last year or so but haven't came back latey. I just replaced both new relay (blue) as a precaution.

It only takes 5 minutes and it is not hard at all. The box is located right next to the driver's side fender. I used a plier to pull out the old (black) ones since they bit pretty hard into the fuse box.

I fixed this a couple months back, but I went to one of the local Mazda dealers here in the LA area, ordered and got the relay switches. I think the hard part was opening the fuse box, which took about 2 minutes. The only other oddity was that the fuses that I purchased were a different color than the ones originally installed. I swapped them out, and have been problem free since.

crazy, but works.

My AC fan started blowing full blast when I turned my CX9 off about a year or two ago. The fix I came up with is: (first let me state that I have the "switchblade" type key)
turn key back to ACC or on position till fan turns off.
lift up on the key so it is tilted up towards the top of the "key hole" in the ignition.
then very slowly ( I mean creeping slow) start to turn the key to off position while keeping that upward pressure on key. It has done it maybe 4 times in the last year and a half. This trick has worked everytime. AC Relays....this is the first I've heard of them. I don't get on the internet much and my CX9 is out of warranty. Hope this helps the "cheapscapes".
Best of luck.

This just happened to me this morning. The rear blower started going full blast when I turned off the key. Do I just ask the guy at the parts department for blower relays?

EDIT: Part #L1Y1-67-730

As the other posts have said it's about $6 part.

Yep, get two of those and do both the front and rear blower relays. If you don't the one you don't do will do it some time later. We had the front done while under warranty and a few years later the rear did it. Just replace both now.

Just replaced them both yesterday. Piece of cake. I was surprised that the new ones were a little smaller in size than the old, but they plugged right in.

I just replaced both of the blue style ones with the newest black relays. I popped the cases off of the old blue ones and the contacs were severely burnt. The blower blowes much harder now with the new relays installed.
