holy crap....just for the bonnet??? dude...ur being majorly RIPPED OFF!!!....i can get a CF bonnet for abt $900....drop me a line if ur interested..

So does anybody know for sure if carbonfiber bonnets are legal on street cars? (confused)

from what i have been told, illegal. because the bonnet forms part of your car's shell (ie safety).

however, just keep your old bonnet and if you get done, swap it to get inspected then change it back. or if you want the CF bonnet to save weight - just paint it the same colour as the car.

Twilight, you have to be careful doing things like that. If he has an accident with a cf bonnet on and it is a front on accident, besides some of the crumple capabilities of the car being lost, insurance can refuse to cover you because you havn't declared the bonnet (it is an illegal modifcation).

Edit: Don't forget they have a person from the insurance company come and look at the vehicle to determine the damage (an assessor). If they see there is an illegal mod, it is entirely up to their discretion whether they cover you or not, from my understanding.
