A barrel of oil currently at $125. Should we stock up on motor oil?

I just bought a 6 qt pack of Mobil1 5W-30 at Costco today. It was on sale for $29.99, which was it's old regular price.

Bought three 5 quart jugs of Castrol 0w-20 a few months ago from Walmart at $19 per. now it's up only a few dollars but nevertheless it's up to $21 and change.
This oil regularly ranges from $19-$26 at Walmart. Let me know when it gets higher than that, otherwise price looks normal to me.

Usually Walmart seems to ask $22-24 for a jug of a typical brand name synthetic oil. It will have to go up a lot to bother with stockpiling to save money.

The Magnatec was always in the $19 amount around here, Pennzoil was always in the $21 area recently bumped up to $24 now. Stuff is climbing. You're in Colorado, I'm in Pa.

Everyone's situation is different I guess.
I'm fortunate to be retired, so I don't drive much anymore. The car is four and a half years old, and has 27,500 kms on it (about 17,000 miles). Gas prices are not a real concern for me.
The bigger concern for us is the rise in prices of just about everything else, especially food.
I can't believe what I'm seeing in grocery stores. Empty shelves and climbing prices. It's nuts.

Yep, could just be area difference.

Around here Walmart has a range for any given 5 quart jug depending on what deals are going on. Sometimes the Castrol Edge is $19, the next week it is $25, and then the week after $21. It just depends. Same thing for the rest of the brands be it Pennzoil, Valvoline, Mobile 1.

I haven't really seen oil prices change out of the ordinary. Gas prices on the other hand...I went to go fill up yesterday and the CircleK was limiting how much gas you could purchase. They cut me off at $15 which got me maybe 3 1/2 gallons.

Yeah, we have 3 Walmarts in the area that we frequent and I always wander through the auto section. Oil prices have been surprisingly stable the last few years. That's why I noticed the increase the last week or so. Your Walmart seems to have a swing in prices not noticed here. I only noticed the prices for the oil I use which was Pennzoil Platinum and Castrol Magnatec, both 0w-20 wieghts. The other oils might have had a variation but I didn't notice.

Gas and oil prices continue to climb. I just stopped in at one of our larger auto parts retailers here in Canada (Canadian Tire) and noticed Castol Edge 0w20 is now $63.99 for a 5 litre jug! Fortunately, it’s on sale at Costco for about 1/2 this price. So I’m off to Costco to pick up a 3 pack.

5 quart jugs of oil around here are still the same prices they've always been.

Gas on the other hand...

I've been using Kirkland Signature 5W-30 in my CX-9 for about a year now. Cheaper than the Castrol Edge I used to buy, also from Costco. IMO, any differences between the two oils are not apparent in performance, engine noise or fuel economy.

Oil prices seem to be the same around here.
