97 B4000 Clutch problem

My truck's clutch doesn't seem to disengage all the way. Or thats what it seems like. Sometimes, usually after engine is warm, if i'm at a dead stop I have to really use force to 'pop' it into 1st gear. And whenever i need to back up and put it into reverse, it most always grinds.

But, if i'm driving and coming to a stop, i can downshift like normal into 1st w/o any problem.

Is it maybe a clutch master cylinder fluid problem? Maybe i should bleed it? Any help would be great.

Check and see if there is an adjustment on the clutch pedal under the dash. Had the same problem on my friends Miata. Bleeding the clutch lines didn't help and we finally remembered the adjustment on the pedal. You might want to bleed the line anyway.

Sounds like your going to have to bleed it. Is the B4000 clutch resevoir seperate from the brake or is it the same resevoir like the Proteges? Depending on how long the fluid has been in there you might want to just completely flush the whole thing with brand new fluid.
