95blkprobe's 02 p5 build

yep, im still awaiting my turbo manifold so i can mock it all up to see if everything will clear. i will def post some mock up pics just to see the snail in the engine bay

went out last night and beat on the car as usual, a friends dsm broke down, went out tonight and of course my car has to break down. all signs are pointing to a broken 3-4 shift fork. car is stuck in 4th gear and remains in 4th gear even when the shifter is in 3,4,N,R. i cant get it to go in 1,2,or 5. out to the junkyard in the am to pull another tranny so i can get it back on the road since its my only legal means of transportation. i had to drive the probe which isnt registered home and to the jy in the am. i will be ordering the "updated" shift fork from mazda tomorrow as well so once that comes in, ill go through the trans and make sure everything else is ok and replace the shift fork.

wish me luck

this little mishap has made me think again about building my daily driver into this monsterous machine. im contemplating about getting a stock motor for the protege5 to daily and putting the buitl motor and all in the probe. if i do this, the probe will have no a/c, a manual steering rack, completely gutted of anything that doesnt require the lights or engine to work. im thinking of having the 3" downpipe come out of the side of the bumper.

no it does not. it it a se which also has the fsde. if it had the kl, it would already be boosted. lol.

then i say go for it. or you could make your probe your daily driver and keep the p5 as is

I thought of that too, but the probe is loud and not as practical as the p5. The p5 drives much smoother and has ice cold a/c :D

o i didnt realise you live in florida ac would definatley be nice to have

Yes, it is def a necessity. Lol. Did I mention that I may experiment with e85 if I drop everything in the probe?

theres a guy on here who ran a protege with E85, it was called the SuperProtege...he was makin close to 400whp
Pretty sure he was from florida too. I would love to use it but trying to find a E85 gas station is pretty tough around here lol

Yea, there is only one here in tally, so it wouldn't be ideal to daily with e85.

The more I think about swapping motors, the more I consider actually doing it

E85 is a cooler fuel but it will ruin your valve train over time!! I know of three evos that switched made over 500whp and couple years later they had ruined heads from the E85.....So i would just suggest to stick with 91octane..

I know it tends to cause corrosion over time. We used to run methanol in our drag ca. They have some stuff called top lube which helps prevent this. Its a fuel.additive
