78 in a 45 OUCH!!!

02 P5 Red
Hey Everybody, I believe this will be a first post for me. I've been lurking around the forums reading all the goodies you guys post here. Very Helplful. Anyway, on with my story.

So here I am, driving down the the feeder on the beltway and this guy in a PT Crusier (of All things) speeds up beside me, looks at me, smiles and stomps it. Well what else could I do but drop gears and give him chase? Sure enough we are weaving through light traffic and a cop standing in the middle of the road nails us. He just walked out into the road with his hand up... Anyway, he nailed me for doing 78 in a 45. This will be ticket number 2 in my nice red P5. (First was exhibition of acceleration). So now it looks like I'll have to drop a couple hundred on a lawyer so I can try and get the ticket dropped, otherwise my insurance is going to be ridiculous. So yeah, Hi everybody. Haha

HELLO Kamikaze and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to our Club. There are TWO BIG fridge'S in the corner with anything you can think of in them...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. (stash)

make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!! (stash)

as for your ticket....bad boy....REAL BAD BOY!! LOL....as you can see...I am from the houston area too....and considering how you said the cop stepped out...hmmmm I am guessing you either live or at least were on the side of town where my parents live....seeing as how that part of the belt way is a big 4 lane divided part with a nice wide grassy/wooded part in the center.....not like most of the belt way is.....

anyway.....how long ago did you get your first ticket? not more than a year ago huh? well if you want to take the time to ask....you can see the judge in charge of the area you recieved your ticket in...and he has the authority to allow you to take defensive driving.....even though the ticket is more than 25mph over the limit...and its been less than a year since your last ticket...its all up to the judge....if you go and ask real nice...dress nicely when you go....tell him how sorry you are and have learned your lesson.....he might let you go to defensive driving.....okay so it ends up costing you about $100 total....not to mention 6 hours on a saturday.....but it will NOT go on your record.....and your insurance will NOT go up....or even know you ever got it in the first place......its worth asking the judge about.....and if he says no....THEN you can go the lawyer route if you want to fight it. Its worth the time to ask the question......

all I can say:
defensivedriving.com

you can start and stop whenever you want.. and it cost me 60 dollars court fees and 40 dollars to take the course. I got a 90 on the exam and have all the curriculum and the exam saved. From what my papers said, I couldnt take defensive driving if it was past a certain amount over the speed limit. I want to say 25? I could be wrong and the judge probably has the power to go around that. I was 23 over the limit on that ticket, and I'm on deffered in another county. So I cant get a ticket for a year or it will go on my record.
