626 manifold quetsion....yet another thread

Subbing, I wana know what kind of gains u'll get. I'll be first in line to get one installed if they're good. Good luck with the install.

are u talking about the 626 mani? there is a dyno floating around here somewhere posting the gains.

I can give you my update...
As someone previously stated there are 2 issues with the earlier style 626 mani.

A. Our later model fuel rail does not bolt up. The mounting points are not even close. So a matching fuel rail from earlier model 626 MUST be obtained. I was hoping to find an aftermarket rail that would fit, but could not locate one (yet).

2. The fuel injectors are very different as well. So, my current issue is to find aftermarket 626 fuel injectors.

I bought a used fuel rail and injectors off ebay but I have some concerns about using the injectors. I will attempt a test fit this weekend. I want to check the condition of the O rings. I also have to figure outwhat to do about the fuel lines, etc...

what will be the benefit of using an earlier style 626 mani of a more recent one?

I think the goal here is just to get more options. So if you can't find a used later model manifold then you could look for an older style, assuming the extra work isn't too much.

i don't understand why can't we use the current injectors, keeping in mind that the 626 injectors DOES fit the stock manifold..sinc ei saw a friend installing them. i guess i will have to find out...good thing i got the stock 626 fuel rail phew...

i have both 626 mani the 01 up and the 99 mani...i compared both and if your gonna use the 99 and down...the runners are way smaller. about the same size as the msp intake mani the 01 mani has larger runners better flow. so pnp is a must for the older mani....for the new 01 mani. you can slightly pnp it but not much..which i did slightly port it more. so im going ahead with the 01 mani....if this older 626 mani does work... then hey i might be selling it...i also have the egr pipe for the older version.

thats exactly what i found...
the older 626 has smaller runners...technicaly more intake velocity
but not enough volume from a performance standpoint

if it fits it's still ALOT cheaper then buying a '01+ 626 manifold online
you could save almost 200 bucks...so thats cool

i'ld love to see these three manifolds flow tested to see the dif

i'm hoping that by increasing air velocity with the smaller runners i can make up for the lost low end torque from the FSZE install and VICS and VTCS removal....

Me too!
HOw did u find that out?

crazee i also found that out too. I have both mani the older version and the 01 version i had them sit next to each other. i measured the runners and the older version mani has way smaller runners...its probably pointless to PNP it unless you really PNP it far enough into the runners..

you 'might' see flowtesting from 'someone' of three different manifolds very soon ;)

can't wait to install my manifold!!!

hehehe....the ******* small runners are gonna give me my low end torque back!!
and while boosted.....does it really matter?
KEN, give me a ******* call

Maybe . . .

but once the boost is up and the flow numbers really get jumpin it seems the smaller ports will limit the amount of air that can flow at a given manifold pressure. Perhaps could up the boost to combat that and have your cake and eat it too??????

Surely would give some fierce velocity, which would help the tumble in the combustion chambers - course with 4 valves per cylinder tumble is just a natural thing.

bad news!!!

as stated, the fuel rail does not bolt up!!!

so, i'm thinking that just getting some fuel lines bolted on to it would fix the problem right there...

also, i don't really like the fact that you can see some of the block thru the injector port!! wTF?, i wasn't expecting that!!!

so far, the manifold is a NO-GO.....
i didn't want to mess with it too much today since i need the car tomorrow...but perhaps next weekend i will really try and see...

still..i'm a little scared that the fuel injectors might hit the block and actually cause a kind of LEAN thing...and then blow the engine..which would be a NO-Funny thing...

wish me luck for next week

i also advanced a little bit on the emanage crap....so...that's good news i guess?

stay tuned.....next week i would actually remove the mani and test fit the new one....i was a chicken!! i know!!!

laterz
