626 mani installed

I installed the PG 626 manifold this weekend and wanted to give you my impressions. I have not dyno'd the car with the new mani.

Installation was a little more challenging for a beginner. This was the most extensive project I have done and it took me some time. Most of the time was spent with the EGR tube. The exhaust end had the nut corroded to the tube so the whole threaded pipe came off. It had to be cut and then hit with a chisel to remove the threaded pipe that goes into the manifold. Then I stripped the threaded pipe and had to file it down and realign the threads. It still did not work 100%, but it is functional. Most of the vaccum hoses are similar to the stock mani. I just had to T one vacuum hose into another line to make it all work. I do have a vacuum block installed so that make it a little easier. I strongly recommend getting the new EGR tube in place before installing the new manifold. It is much easier. I installed the new mani before installing the EGR pipe and had to remove it to get the pipe in place. Also, clean the EGR while you have it off the old mani. The electrical plugs were not difficult, but it helps to label them after you disconnect them. The job is somewhat difficult for a newbie but not unmanagable; just time consuming when doing it for the first time.
It was well worth the frustration and effort. My car runs smoother and has lost the hesitation that always occurred when accelerating from 0 boost to positive boost. I have not noticed any loss of low end power and there is definately greater acceleration from 3500 on up. The whole car just feels better at all RPMs. It is much more fun to drive and I find myself accelerating more often to feel the improved response/power. I have had no cold start issues, but it has only gotten down to 40 degrees. I know that it is hard to tell any power difference without a dyno pull, but the cars improved response and general overall improved running condition have made this mod well worth the money. My mods include: SRI, Vibrant exhaust, DSM AFC, 626 mani, FMIC. If anyone is installing the mani soon, feel free to E-mail me if you have any questions.

you can always take the egr out like i did, one of the best mods for our cars IMO

How did you eliminate the CEL? I still have my egr in place but I put a breather filter on it so it sees just the right amount of flow to prevent CEL

I am going to be doing this soon. I will PM you before I do to see what other issues I may have. always good to know in advance.

what did you cap it off with? and i'm assuming any autozone cheap filter will suffice on the exhaust mani egr port?

yeah and I cut the egr tube to fit the filter behind the block. The cap is a standard fittign size that you can find at HD or Lowe's I can't remember the size off the top of my head nut I could probably find it if no body can remember quickly.
