5x10 Trailer - Too wide to tow with CX5?

I use a 5 X 10 Aluma, actually called 6310H on their website http://www.alumaklm.com/item/8-6310h-utility-trailer.html It has a 3000LB torsion axle that rides incredible and only weighs about 500 LBS with the 24" high front and side racks and spare mounted. Also has a bifold tailgate, but I keep that off the trailer unless I need to take the Scag to the shop.

I haul everything from fence building materials, concrete, lumber, etc. over hundreds of miles, no problem. I believe about 2000 LBS is the most I have hauled (25 bags of 80 LB concrete), and only about 50 miles. Trailer was around $2500 in 2014 I think. It won't ever rust, I can move it around easily by hand.

Nice looking trailer and a steal of a price if accurate! Was that new from one of their dealers? it would be cool if the 12" solid side option was out-fitted for accepting 2x4 stakes. That way it could be used to haul sand/gravel/soil/bark and converted to other purposes without needing to remove/store the 12" solid aluminum sides.

Is it OK to cross the tow chains on top of the hitch like in the below photo? I don't want them to drag so I crossed them on top of the hitch:

Here is a list of safety chain trailer laws

IMO: You want to make sure they are crossed and underneath. You can take up slack by twisting the chain and try to keep separate length. In theory this should help keep the tongue of the trailer from digging into the pavement or ground should it become detached. Obviously not at the same height as the hitch but above ground level......although your trailer jack up front would keep it from going that far. Not all trailers have have a jack on the front.

All good info.

Here is what mine looks like
